- How long does it take ginsing to leave the body?
- Q: I was taking a supplement for prostate porblems which contains ginsing. I have developed tremors and am jittery . Thanks for any help you caan give me.
- A: Ginseng has many components which all leave the body at different rates. Some components will be gone within the first couple hours of absorption into the blood, whereas there are other components (including active ingredients) which will take longer. One component (ginsenoside Rb1) has a half-life of 16 hours which mean it will be at undetectable levels in just over 3 days. But this doesn't mean that the effects won't wear off sooner. Most people don't feel the effects of ginseng longer than one day.
- Is it true that taking ginsing is good for colds?
- Q: I read in the NY Times last year that studies show ginsing reduces the amount, severity, and length of the common cold. has anyone ever tried this, and if so what were the results? also, is there any food that is abundant in ginsing, or do you have to take it in pill form?
- A: Dont know about the cold thing.. BUT, it does enhance the 'sex drive'!! heheheAs far as products with it.. Go to an 'Herb' store, or a 'health store' like GNC. They should have it. I know you can buy the gum. And i know you can actually buy the plant itself here in the States at Herbal stores.
- Can caffiene and ginsing combined cause a onetime angina attack, would there be enzymes in my blood?
- Q: Hi, I am a 32 f that experienced severe chest pain that radiated down through my leftarm and my left hand tingled like someone was putting needles in it. I had been drinking a drink for a couple of days because it was cheaper and it had extra caffiene and ginsing it. Anyways I was in the hospital overnight and all my tests came back normal I do not have heart disease. I was just wondering if the drink could have caused it. I do take an acid reflux medication but I don't feel it was acid reflux because I reacted to the nitro(3 of them) and was real tired afterwards, but that could have been because I quit drinking caffiene all together. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
- A: Caffeine makes your heart pump faster and harder, ginseng does the same thing. All though the doctors did not find any evidence, it sounds to me like a close call. I'd cut out any stimulants in your diet. Also if you do not eat well or get a decent amount of physical exercise, now is the time to start. Don't push yourself because you don't want another episode, but frankly you might have gotten a glimpse of your own death and that's one hell of a wake up call.
