What is the average grocery list for a family of 4?
Q: My husband has been bugging me to ask this. We are a family of 4. Me my husband and my 2 boys. 1 and 3 years old. We seem to eat the same things over and over. Not as healty as it could be either. What would be a good shopping list for us?
A: FIRST OF ALL you need a weekly menu, like mon: spaguetty, tuesday, steak +baked potato, wed: grilled chicken and rice etc. also plan breakfasts , oatmeal , fruit salad + yogurt, eggs and bacon…you need to shop for fruits and vegetables first, bananas apples and oranges should be a staple, have at least 4 of each always , and anoher fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, etc. for variation,) tomato lettuce onion potatoes carrots and garlic should also be a staple ( then follow a recipe and buy the extra vegetables you need.always have coffee, bread, eggs milk, juice , water, rice , olive oil, nooddles. and sugar. if you dont have a menu , you’ll most likely be lost everyday and stressed out about food and what to feed your kids and going to the store cause you forgot something…..
I cant get my three year old to eat. He’s loosing too much weight and already below average. what should I do?
Q: He is three years old (turned three in December). Lately -as within the last 3 months, he has been on a food strike and wont eat much of anything at all! My husband and I have talked to our pediatrician, who basically laughed at us and said it was a phase… well now our son has lost 10 lbs and is skin and bones. WE try making him eat, but he screams and screams and usually makes himself so sick that he’ll throw up. Not a great outcome if you’re trying to get your child to eat.I’m really worried and don’t know what else to do!! We’ve literally tried EVERYTHING, and now we’ve resorted to giving him Pediasure (a supplement that gives him his vitamins and calories) However this obviously can’t go on for the rest of his childhood, so we are really both concerned and at loss for what else to do!! PLEASE HELP!!!We are a very stress free., loving family, and so we know he’s not stressed about his life… I’m also a stay at home momma to him, so he’s not in daycare or anything like that. He’s on a children’s vitamin already.. We shop at a whole food’s store called ‘Out Post’ and we buy a children’s vitamin from there. Also we NEVER allow him to eat “junk food” we are an all natural family… I breastfed him up until he was two, so there is no way I would allow crap foods to go into his body.I’m well aware that a three year old loosing ten lbs is a very bad and dangerous thing. I would appreciate if everyone would read my question thoroughly before responding. We don’t feed him foods like jello or pudding.. those foods are junk foods and wouldn’t help his nutrition period. As for fruits, our diet at home is high in fruit and vegetables. Because we are very health conscious we as a family eat a very well balanced diet. We spend more money on our foods than most Americans/. We only buy organic, and we shop at whole food grocery stores. Our children have never had any infections, I breast fed all of them ect, ect. Any how, I agree that we need to switch doctors, and I am in the process of doing that. However, bottom line is I know my child best and right now something is going on with him and I need to figure it out. He went from being a healthy happy three year old to an unhealthy still happy three year old. Its the unhealthy part that frightens me, especially because of the precautions we have taken with our lives to ensure that our children are healthy.
A: I DON’T THINK YOU HAVE TO DO ANYTHING DRASTIC LIKE CHANGING YOUR DOCTOR.MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS BEEN THE PICKIEST EATER SINCE ABOUT 2 AND SHE TO ME IS SKIN AND BONES BUT ACCORDING TO DOCTORS SHE’S PERFECT, LITERALLY. NOT AN OUNCE OF BAD FAT ANYWHERE.YOUR DOCTOR IS RIGHT. IT’S VERY COMMON FOR CHILDREN THAT AGE TO GO THROUGH A PHASE WHERE THEY AREN’T INTERESTED IN EATING. THAT IS ALL IT REALLY IS. HIS ATTENTION SPAN IS NOTHING COMPARED TO YOURS…SITTING DOWN TO A NICE YUMMY PLATE ISN’T AS APPEALING THAN HIS TOY TRAIN SET IN HIS BEDROOM OR THE LOUD NOISES COMING FROM OUTSIDE IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT.FIRST TRY SIMPLIFYING FOOD. MY PEDIATRIAN ONCE TOLD ME THAT “MIXED” FOOD IS UNAPPEALING TO YOUNG CHILDREN. SEEING SEVERAL FOOD GROUPS ON A PLATE CAN GET OVERWHELMING TO THEM…ESPECIALLY IF THEY’RE TOUCHING OR MIXED. JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE. SERVE A SMALL PORTION OF CHICKEN FOR EXAMPLE. I MEAN SMALL. AND THEN GIVE HIM HIS SMALL PORTION OF VEGGIES. THEN THE STARCH…IF YOU PREFER. ONTOP OF “SIMPLER” MEALS…GET RID OF THE DISTRACTIONS. MAKE SUPPER TIME A QUIET TIME. NO TV IN THE BACKGROUND. NO WASHING DISHES. TOYS IN VIEW…THAT SORT OF STUFF. MOST LIKELY IF THEY ONLY THING IN FRONT OF HIM IS FOOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND HIM IS MORE ‘BORING’ THAN THE FOOD…HE’LL SAY OH WHAT THE HECK!AND IT NEVER HURTS TO PLAY AIRPLANE WITH YOUR FORK. :)IN THE MEAN TIME WHILE HE’S BEING SUPER PICKY…GIVE HIM DAILY VITAMINS AND KEEP THE LITTLE BOOGER HYDRATED. I PROMISE YOU EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. I ALWAYS GIVE MY 2 YEAR OLD SON SPIDERMAN ‘GUMMY BEAR’ VITAMINS. THEY’RE PRACTICALLY CANDY TO HIM AND HE’S ALWAYS GARANTEED TO EAT THEM. VITAMINS WILL MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF VITAMINS HE’S CHOOSING NOT TO TAKE IN WITH HIS FOOD.I HOPE I HELPED YOU OUT. :)***AND I CAN’T STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO not MAKE ‘EATING TIME’ STRESSFUL. IF YOUR FORCING FOOD ONTO YOUR LITTLE GUY SO RELUCTANTLY THAT HE’S CRYING TILL THE POINT HE THROWS UP…YOUR JUST MAKING THE SITUATION WORSE. HE’S JUST GOING TO ASSOCIATE FOOD WITH STRESS AND CRYING. YOU DON’T WANT THAT. MAKE DINNER TIME FUN.
I’m a 20 year old male and I’m fully grown at 5’4 132 pounds. Is it possible for me to get hGH from my doctor?
Q: I’ve been heavily eating and weight training for almost 5 years in order to put on some size, but its very hard. Both of my brothers are 5’9 and the rest of the males in my family average about 5’10. Does anyone know if I could get hGH or some sort of steroid to help me be a normal size?
A: You want to avoid the HGH like the plague. This is very bad for your body, regardless of what others that are selling the product tell you and what you’ve heard from others. Your body produces HGH naturally and when it does this, it does it with a particular cell resonance that is healthy for you. When you take the synthetic they are making and expect your body to accept it like what you make, it won’t happen. Yes, you get some benefit in the beginning, but it will damage your DNA and shorten your life, and you will also become dependent upon it and your body will stop making it’s own HGH because it will realize the balance has been offset. You must ask yourself is the benefit you are getting worth the risk and damage it will do to your body.If you will notice, there are no products that have been touted as “good for you” in the weight lifting industry or diet industry that has lasted the test of time. There is very good reason for this. The best you can do is to improve your diet, making sure you get enough good fats and proteins in your diet. This will bulk you up and give you good sustained energy. Stay as far away from anything with SOY in it as you can, unless it is fermented the way the Japanese people eat it. Soy slows your thyroid down and is loaded with phytoestrogens that will reduce your testosterone levels. A very good source of protein is whole eggs from chickens that eat off the ground and are fertile. Whey protein is excellent source of protein. Eat lots of real butter made from raw cream, drink lots of raw milk from a certified dairy, and lots of raw colostrum because it will build muscle very well. If you give your body good fats, it will make your own HGH and you will get lasting results. The steroid hormones are made from fats. These low fat, high carbohydrate diets are really bad for you and will not give you the sustained energy and good muscle. Stay completely away from ALL VEGETABLE OILS, except Olive oil. Eat lots of coconut oil because it contains about 50% lauric acid that will nourish your thyroid gland.good luck to you
