Diet Soda..good or bad?
Q: Well I know diet soda is bad because of the aspartame *phenylketonurics and it caused brain damage when they tested rats..but whatever. I am on a diet and eating healthy foods and getting in exercise..but is diet soda bad for you if you are trying to lose weight. I haven’t had a real soda in ages..all teh sugar gives me a headache. But I was wondering if it slows down weight loss or something? I really like diet pepsi and I drink it to help ease cravings for when I want candy or something, since it tastes pretty sweet. I would just like to know what I should do..should I only stick to water? oh..and BTW..I do drink a lot of water..but I drink 20-40 FL OZ of Diet pepsi a day..is this bad?

Should you avoid diet soda when you’re on a diet?
Q: So I’ve been trying to lose weight. I drink a lot of diet coke, though. Lately I feel like its making things worse though. I’ve always heard that even anorexic girls drink diet coke.. It has no sugar or carbs and usually really low sodium, like 1%. But anyways, should it be avoided if you’re trying to be healthier / lose weight?
A: Well, there’s no question that Diet Soda is BETTER than regular soda. So if you are replacing regular soda then yes – it’ll help you lose weight only because your body GAINED it via soda in the first place.But, there is a downside. Since there have been no well-known or conclusive studies on the effects of aspartame on the body, I won’t say anything about how bad it is for you. (Because I can’t cite resources, I just know studies I HAVE read show that it is bad for you.) What I DO know is this – caffeine is bad for you. It can rev your metabolism of course, but caffeine helps STORE fat. My doctor told me that when you are trying to lose weight, your body loses fat much less quickly if you are drinking caffeine as it has s detrimental effect on your fat cells. I didn’t believe him of course! But I finally cut out caffeine from my already low-carb diet and I dropped 10lbs in two weeks. So I firmly believe that soda and caffeine don’t help when you are attempting to lose weight.
