Q: i was anorexic for 6 months before i entered recovery. i have been eating correctly for about 3 months now and i am almost at my goal weight. how long does it take for the metabolism to speed up again?
A: so long as you remain eating correctly i think it takes around 6 – 8months, my friend is eating properly but not regularly and so she has been in recovery for a year now and her metabolism isnt kicking in yet, so make sure you keep up eating properly. Dont be put off if you gain weight as this is why she had stopped eating the way she should, and it maskes it worse.
How long does it take to speed up your metabolism?
Q: I have started trying to speed up my metabolism. I saw a thing on TV where they were talking about how dieting slows your metabolism so once you stop dieting you weight comes back. They said that if you eat 5 small meals a day you body will constantly be processing the food and it will think that food is abundant and so it won’t store it as fat. So that is what I am doing. I eat a protein bar at 5am then a bowl of oatmeal about 8am then a protein bar for lunch at noon, then a protein bar about 3pm then a decent dinner at about 6pm. I also work out about 3 days a week and try to stay active around the house. So my question is I know that my metabolism won’t instantly speed up so how long will it take before my metabolism speeds up? A couple weeks? A couple months?
A: It depends on how much effort you put into it. You will most likely see gradual results once your body gets used to the new eating regiments. This, I would assume, will be different for most people. However, lot’s of water and exercise helps, too! If your body sees it has to actually use the energy you are supplying it, it will always be asking for more and more…thus metabolizing your food much faster.
