How long do you think it would take to master your own martial arts?
Q: I create my own fightning style and i practice it every day. I wont my fighting style to be the most strongest ever. i plan on becoming the worlds strongest fighter. How long do you guys think it will take to master it?
A: A life time to Master it! To create it does not take a life time but to Master it would take a life time or even more probably, all you can do is do your best to improve upon yourself each and every time, to others you may appear as a Master to them but you should always remain humble and realize you can always do it better. You strive for perfection yet never truly reach it and it passes on to the next generation and so on.Their is no such thing as a style being the strongest or best ever, IT WILL always fall to who ever is the better fighter with brains and smarts as well as technique and skill. SO the style and art is not as critical as it is the caliber if the fighter and how well they learn the art and apply it.So yes you can make a new style eventually and even if you DO make yourself the strongest fighter in the world which who knows if you will or will not but say you do, that does not mean that your students can follow you in your path and be as successful because they are not you and have your drive and spirit. That is why each person is different and it is more the person than the style that makes a fighter good. They learn well and have a good teacher. So I hope that makes sense.(I can see my Troll Captain Apollo Boz Boob bipolar has been here to stick his thumbs on us all, I swear he must enjoy it an awful lot!)
How does someone from a supposed legitamate Dojo obtain a 7th Dan from a Sandan in 4 years?
Q: I come from a very traditional system and to obtain sandan it has taken me roughly 17 years to reach this point. someone I know was also a Sandan at the same time as me.What he did was write a small book and gave it a label of a new art or style, got it notarized and published and then was able to become a Hanshi 5th Dan overnight by creating his own Martial Arts..(I think this is BS and a short cut way to achevie what many work hard for) Now he has been a 5 dan since 2004 and now he is a 7th Dan as of This month and NEVER tested for Yondan or 6thdan Renshi status. His parent school has much reputation to it, but i think he has pulled the wool over their eyes and is still to me a Sandan.DO you all think is possible to go from Sandan to 7th dan in a matter of 4 years at age 45?I do not. What are your thoughts?ok this is the dilemna. Its not a black belt factory school, mines not, OUR founding father retired years back and left it to his top Hanshi whom I stayed with, my teacher has since come out of retiredment and opened a new organization that is associated but not part of mine. MY only connection is that is was my teacher. HE is for real and not a fake,,,hes just getting old and senile i am afraid to say. THeir was a time it took 2-3 years to go from purple belt to brown belt with him, Now he hands rank out like its candy. I know MY systems Hanshi and Shihans…I am a Sensei too, just not as high ranked as they. I have to put up with this yahoo wanting me to call him Shihan, I find this diffucult to do knowing he duped an 82 year old Japanese OSensei through my senile Sensei whom O’Sensei is unaware of and promoted him based on trust of his AMerican top student. Hes only been this way a coulple years, think he may be getting alzheimers. see my problem? i wont call him shihan hes 3rdas meI know the rank means nothing compared to the person but he is a very good duper, and he should be listed on bullshitshido.com i think. NO one can go from a sandan to Renshi in that short a time. I have 31 years into it and im only a sandan and Happy with it. I MAY see 5-7 in my life time…MAYBE. I dont care either. This guy is not my teacher but tries to pull rank with me. I could write a frigging book too and become a Shihan..thats no way to do it.how would you handle him in a ceremony situation, is the only time i have to see him is at cross school ceremonies. its funny… our school DOES NOT RECONIZE their ranks or bbs except the Head master…but we are all recognized by his. Would you call him Shihan and just be the better man and swallow it or would you not because he is not? Im just curious as to what you all think.OK I WILL SAY IT ONE MORE TIME I ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH HIM AT CEREMONIES & PROMOTIONS. HE IS NOT IS MY SYSTEM, he is affiliated to it because his teacher is the same teacher as mine and Hanshi and Shihan’s.THEY do not recogonize his rank above 2rd and neither do I. He demands to be called Shihan at these events and thats the issue, how to politely tell him off in a respectfull manner.Riki understands me. that is exactly what i am concerned about.. Thanks.
A: Yeap that happen in my school too, and no its not right!, sounds like there is abit of glory chasing going on too! ,if this guy was true to himself this would never have happened, this is how cracks appear in the foundation, if this guy has got abit of pull in the authority of your system id watch he doesn’t tear it apart! classic example look at American Kenpo! once the head passed away! it all went to crap because of ego’s or as my teacher put it ” a climb to the top of the dung heap! nothing good was left anymore! anyway back to the subject! As far as having to show him respect, that’s a hard one , talk to some of your trusted peers to see if they feel the same way and if your association requires you to acknowledge him id say you have to bite the bullet and do it ,no matter how dis-hearting it is, been humble might be best! because when when it comes down to it you know the truth.
How do I sell my system of martial arts and become famous?
Q: I created a system of martial arts. I combined a number of moves I saw on Youtube and read about in books. I also use moves I learned at the YMCA taught be one of the top masters in the entore world. Her is a 12th degree black belt. (There are 12 stripes on his belt and he is asian). My art is superior to anything out there. I am 138 pounds and can easily overcome anyone. Even all the MMA guys. With one of my Flip kicks they would go down. So how do I prove my aret and become famous and make a lot of money like that Bruce Lee guy? And since I am the grandmaster of my own art how do I get a certificate? I applied to the YMCA to teach a class but they say I have no credentials. How do I get them? I mean this stuff is really deadly. I would accept you as a student if you leave your e mail.
A: Wow, this is a joke right? I mean really, I’m in tears. However, if you are serious, umm…..yea, I’ll pray for you 0.0
