Q: it feels like something on the inside of my head is pushing really hard but it also kinda feels like im getting hit in the head with a hammer. it’ll last a few minutes then go away and then return again, and the pain will still be there a day or two after [although its not as bad as it was before.] does this happen to everyone? why does it happen? what can i do to stop it?
A: Hi,I am Dr.Ajay. People who are predisposed to migraine can get these headaches after flying, because flying can act as a trigger for many people. Apart from this, when we are flying at such a high altitude, the pressure and temperature outside is very much different from what we experience on the ground. In spite off the well protected environment some people get headaches as a result of these changes. Or it could be just because of the long flights and jet lag in case you are one of those who does long hours of travel continuously. In case you are above 40 and you keep getting these pains often, its better to get yourself checked for migraine or other causes of recurrent headache and be treated for the same.
