A: No one here can tell you what this is . . you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. However, you are not too young to have ovarian cancer. This is one of the cancers, usually germ cell ovarian cancer that can occur in teenagers and young adults. National Cancer Institute: Ovarian Germ Cell Tumorshttp://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/ovarian-germ-cell/PatientFrom your description you are in far too much pain to be waiting for a clinic .. get your parents up and make them take you to an Emergency Room for an evaluation. You should never ignore swelling, pain, vomiting, cramps in your abdominal area. Your other worries about family history is irrelevant unless everyone had the identical cancer.
what did my cyst turn into?
Q: I had a cyst (according to nurse practitioner) below my chin for the last few years. Suddenly, it got red and burst like some kind of acne. I plan to go to the doctor, but I’m wondering if a cyst can turn into something bad.I was mostly concerned because it was bleeding.
A: If you’re worried about it becoming malignant or cancerous then don’t. However, like any open wound or cut on the body that’s been agitated, there is a risk of infection. I would keep the area clean and see a doctor or health professional.
Can a hypoglossal duct cyst turn into cancer?
Q: i just went to the doctor today for a bump under my chin. He had told me that i had a Hypoglossal Duct Cyst. He explained that a hypoglossal duct cyst is when you are being developed, your thyroid travels from under your tongue, down a small canal down by your voice box, and on me that canal is filled with fluid creating the cyst. It is very very uncommon. My doctor has only seen this type of cyst 3 times out of 23 years of being a doctor, and said that out of 5000 people not one would have it nor know what it is, or even knew it could even exist. The cyst can either go away on its own, but it would take 4 to 6 weeks, or if it does not go down then removing it through the neck is what we would have to do. But i didn’t get to ask him if this cyst over time could become cancer or anything dangerous, because i really don’t want a scar on my neck if it doesn’t go away… So if anyone knows about these cysts, please help me out 🙂 thank you
A: Yea cancer can arise in these cysts, but its very unlikely, it happens only in 3% of cases they are called Thyroglossal cyst you can read more about em here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyroglossal_cyst
