HPV and genital warts questions?
Q: so…apparently i have genital warts. i haven’t been tested yet, but i’ll go in within the next few days to get a comprehensive STD test. i’ve spent several hours researching on line and i still feel really confused about a few things.1. would DNA HPV testing indicate what strain of HPV i have?the types (6, 11) that cause warts are low-risk, but i want to make sure that i don’t have high-risk types that cause cervical cancer. i know, though, that chances are a pap smear wouldn’t indicate any irregularities since i was infected 8 months ago.2. is this test done with routine STD testing or do doctors only test for HPV if there are abnormalities in a pap?So, it says on line that most cases of HPV clear on their own– 3. is that true for the type of HPV that causes genital warts, and 4. if i HAVE genital warts (was infected 8 months ago), does that mean my HPV probably won’t clear on it’s own?i haven’t NOTICED any symptoms lately–and i definitely didn’t have them before christmas. but, the last few months i’ve been extremely stressed out, and a lot of sex/gender related trauma has been coming to surface. i think the stress has weakened my immune system, which is why i’m showing symptoms. if i practice more meditation and eat healthier, cut out refined sugars (which i know i’m sensitive to already, but i’ve been in a funk lately and haven’t been paying too much attention), exercise more, things that generally improve immune system, then is it likely i can get the warts to go away on their own, and keep them from recurring?oh, yeah, um. i read that removing the warts removes a lot of the HPV infection (because it’s housed there,), and that it allows the immune system to destroy whatever’s left more easily. So, if i just cut them off myself, wouldn’t that be helpful? or, would that make them spread more easily?thanks for all the help.
A: 1) you should have regular pap smear in future! always, because you are infected with HPV (anyway – HPV is most common STD)2) you should ask for special HPV test because it is not done with routine STD test! it costs some more money but you will know the answer!3) HPV does not clears by itself! genital warts can go away – if your immune system will be strong enough! so HPV will be in your body forever!4)YES! eat healthier, exercise more, make your immune system stronger and stronger and you will have no genital warts and symptoms because your body will be stronger then HPV virus ! :)dont smoke , too (if you are smoking)!and :”oh, yeah, um. i read that removing the warts removes a lot of the HPV infection (because it’s housed there,), and that it allows the immune system to destroy whatever’s left more easily.
