To medical experts: How to prevent sebaceous cysts, and can they turn cancerous?
Q: I have several sebaceous cysts all over my head. It seems like every 1 or 2 weeks I'll feel my scalp and there'll be a new one (which is usually tender at first). I used to just have one on the back of my head for the longest time, now they're all over! I'm not worried about them except for wondering if they've ever been known to turn into tumours or become malignant. That's also the reason I want to stop more from forming. (I've long had an issue with dandruff, dry scalp, and sometimes seborrheic dermatitis).
A: Sebaceous cysts are benign. There are ways to treat them topically like shampoos and such; however, there is a treatment that involves the the use of an antibiotic which you may ask your dermatologist or primary care physician about. The antibiotic is called Doxycycline and it is taken orally (pill form). I know I said it's an antibiotic but in this case it works as an anti-seborrheic.Please contact a doctor BEFORE you take any medications especially an antibiotic like this.
Cysts on the arm?
Q: so i just did a reasearch on sebaceous cyst.because 2 weeks ago i started to feel a little bump that feels like a marble on my hand 10 inches below the wrist. days after that i felt another one about 5 inches below the elbow (Both on my left hand) then just now i felt another one on the back side of my right arm.what do you think is causing these cysts to appear? Can alcohol be the cause? or what i eat?if so, what should i change on my diet?what else can i do to get rid of them?more water? more veggies?i read that a non surgical process to get rid of them is to put a hot towel on the affected area. .. is that actually gunna work? im worried that it might be cancerous because ive never had these before.what are these ones exactly? i'd really hope for someone to anser this question. im only 17 years old and i already am becoming a health freak. =(i cant sleep, i cant eat.. please help me...i did. geez. . . thought yahoo answers do not let arrogant closed minded people register. but oh well.. guess you prove me wrong. =D

how can i deal with my kelloid?
Q: Ive got a sebaceous cyst in my lower abdomen and had a minor surgery last 2006. My doctor doesnt know that my skin is kelloidal..It itches so much and sometimes theres is like pain, like ant bites that i feel whenever I wanted to pee. Does anyone knows about kelloid?is this cancerous?
A: some people 's skin s hyper-sensitive to incisions. this is more prevalent in black people but is unpredictableit is NOT cancerous, it only has connective tissue (exagerrated response of a healing process)u cannot get rid of it totallyit cannot -obviously- be excised surgicallyu'd better wait a bit until it settles down, and then injections or topical steroid may help
