My Girl friend has depression what can I do?
Q: My girl friend she has depression at first she kept checking up on me and then stole my passwords to my email and my facebook. Then she got paranoid about every girl I talked to. (I did nothing wrong to make her want to do this except like in the first week or two we had dated I started talking to this other girl online but now we have been dating for almost six months and just got her to stop also she has some insecurities and thinks I will find some one better than her). But anyway back to the depression so some times she just snaps at nothing and other times she just cries and all of that. She recently came of her meds to try and get healthier and wants to stay of of them. She is seeing a therapist. Her mom is on meds her parents are a little strange. Her mom is on meds to and goes to the doctor for everything and just wants to keep her on meds. sometimes her depression and paranoia just seem so bad I don’t know what to do and wonder if it is worth it what can I do?Also she will hide away from every one else when she gets depressed. I try to get her to do something but generally she wont. Some times I snap but i know I shouldn’t I feel bad when I do but she will cry and then some times go hide in a closet. My mom doesn’t help at all my mom expects me to drop everything for her and just constantly spend time with her. So when she forces me to do that and my gf needs help I don’t know who to choose it’s like I get put in a situation. she says she trusts me but she just has this fear of something that happened with an online boy friend.
A: it sounds like besides being her boyfriend, you are also playing the role of umpire, therapist, coach, cheerleader and friend – it also sounds like she does not trust you very much – I actually don’t see what you are getting out of this relationship – you might “love” her, but what does that mean – love should be reciprocal at the very least – does she encourage you or admire you or respect you? She seems to need a monitor – and that’s another role that you are playing – but she also wants to monitor YOU – even tho you do’nt give her reason to suspect you of anything. It’s a fairly good rule of thumb to look at a girl’s family, to see what she may be like in 10 or 20 years – You are giving a lot in this relationship – have you ever examined what, if anything, besides the good feelings that come from “giving” – you might be getting out of it?to actually answer your question, there isn’t much you CAN do about it – her decision to either self-medicate herself, or listen to her mother, and stay on the drugs, or try to improve her situation (altho I didn’t notice anything in your paragraph, referring to ways that she’s tried to do that) – about all you can do, is sit by and watch – she doesn’t trust you, so she isn’t going to ask your opinion on this, I don’t think – just some thoughts – – try to take care of yourself – she is high-maintenance, and will most likely remain so…
What are the steps to becoming a dermatologist?
Q: I go to sf state and I’m going to major to dietetics because I read somewhere that to go to med school you can have any major. All i know is you have to go to a med school after you graduate a school. What schools can I apply for after i graduate for dermatology? i think uc davis and uc irvine have derma schools? And what is this whole residency thing, is residency something you do after med school at a med school? and i think you have to take like the MCAT or something and pass the derma certified test thing. I’m totally lost with this stuff =.=. Thanks!
A: 4 years of college with excellent grades, 4 years of medical school with excellent grades (because dermatology is a hot specialty right now, so you need top grades to get a residency in dermatology), followed by at least 3 years of residency in dermatology.Medical school prepares you to be a doctor, but it is during your residency that you actually learn the details of your specialty. Residency is where surgeons learn to operate, for instance, not during med school. But here’s the catch — you get ONE shot at a residency in your desired field because there’s a matching process that results in each graduating med student being offered one residency opportunity. The top students go to the top residency programs. There are only so many residency opportunities available in each specialty. So you may want heart surgery, but end up in another specialty if your grades aren’t high enough.
How do I deal with anxiety?
Q: I have suffered from anxiety before and it went away for a long while, lately as of this week it has been coming back full force, and I don’t know what to do. My life is becoming increasingly stressful and is getting worst. I’m getting to the point where I’m unhappy and stressed and very short with people all the time. It’s causing problems with my girlfriend and is making me very unhappy with my life, almost depressed.I really don’t know what to do, I get mild panic attacks at work where I can’t breathe right and my nerves are racing, no matter what I try I can’t seem to calm myself down. I let stupid thoughts run through my head and often start to believe them even though I truly know they are not true. I currently work about 50 hours a week and I go to school full time and I also am a full time single dad I know that all this can be stressful but I have been handling it fine for three years now. I started dating someone about three months ago and she is great all this started happening when we started getting really close I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but things are going completely fine but because of my anxiety I keep thinking their not what I expect which is stupid. She has been very understanding and supportive but I feel like I’m putting her through a lot of BS for really small stuff, but I can’t control it. I need to control it before she gets tired of it.Am I going crazy? I really need someone to point me in the right direction here, I was on small doses of anxiety meds before but now I don’t have medical insurance so I don’t know what to do.
A: boy oh boy you sound just like me with this.Okay try some relaxing techniques.Do them every night drink also some warm hot tea so you go to bed relaxed and calm with no worrying thought so maybe inda morning it can be better for you.And it seems like when you are getting serious with this girl that triggered a little stress or anxiety and its making you cause this cause your letting it get out of hand. The feeling of going crazy bro is completly normal if you have anxiety which is really the oppisite its that your not going crazy so dont worry bout that bro.Take life easy okay write down some happy thoughts you get, write down some positive things about yourself or the way you look at life good. Then whenever you feel stressed out or something go over what you wrote. But the important thing is to control when your feeling stressed out or when a panic attack is striking its important you know what to do and not panic more or increase your negative thinking.Change your self-talk stream into positive and i garantee you theyll be some success with your anxiety. Also go out more like to places you really like keep you calm cause it seems like your stressing yourself out too much their buddy soo just do yourself a favor and take it easy.Best of Luck
