what are the chances of miscarriage after 12 weeks?
Q: I know the risk drops dramatically at 12 weeks, but what are the chances of miscarriage happening after this time, and what would cause it? Most books say you can relax after 12 weeks, but I know a few people on here have lost their babies after 12 weeks. I saw my lively little baby last week [when I was 14 weeks] and everything looked fine, but I can’t help but worry. Thanks x
A: On the Miscarriage Association website they say that studies show if a scan at 10 weeks shows a heartbeat and good measurements then the risk of miscarriage is 0.6%. So the risk after 12 weeks would be even less than that. It’s a very small risk. Yes, it happens sadly but you do have to relax! Remember that every child that has ever been born was once a 14 week fetus!

i know most women start to enter a safty point at 12 weeks but…?
Q: okay so heres the deal, i’ve posted questions before about Rh negative women, as i’m trying to learn more about it (like I’ve posted in my other questions, when the doctors told me I was Rh negative, I had no idea what it meant and thought it was some kind of disease lol) my question is I know most women start to enter a “saftey point” at 12 weeks where the risks of miscarriages begin to lower with each week that passes by, but is this true for Rh negative women, where the blood type normally becomes a problem in pregnancies after 28 weeks (for women that don’t get the shot) or is it the same? are Rh negative pregnancies at a greater risk if they don’t get the shot than Rh positive pregancies, or even Rh negative pregnancies that DO get the shot?… I pretty much have the idea of what the Rh factor is about yet, but I haven’t heard anything on this subject, and as I’ve said in other questions I’m just trying to learn a little more about it since I am Rh negative. thank you in advancei’m not pregnant now, already had my first son =] thats how i found out i was Rh negative, and decicded I wanted to know more about it, what I’m asking is about the second pregnancies and so fourth after that.. i know there isn’t any real danger to the first pregnancy
A: Being Rh – wont do anything to harm your current pregnancy. if you are Rh- and dont get the shot, then any future pregnancies will be in danger of miscarriage. Without the shot, if the baby in a future pregnancy is Rh+, your body will see it as something that shouldnt be there and will fight it.
