Wonder gag twisted wire bit….?
Q: I asked a question a few days ago about my horse throwing her head, i put in there that i ride in a wonder gag twisted wire bit, and almost everyone who answered said that that bit was very harsh, they made it sound like i was really horrible for putting something like that in my horses mouth and that was the reason she was throwing her head……but this is the bit my horse was trained in, (i did not train her the girl who owned her before me did) i have owned this horse for two months and always ridden in this bit, and this is the first time she has ever thrown her head. I have done some research on this bit and some people say it is harsh and some say it isn’t. I know it is harsher than a snaffle (as it has the gag action) but it isn’t as harsh as say some really longed shank bit is it? Just some backround about my horse (i am wondering now if this bit is too harsh for what i do with my horse)We barrel raceI ride with very soft hands I ride her on a very loose rein i hardly ever have contact with her mouth except of course when we are stopping even then i pull lightly and loosen up pull lightly again and loosen and do this until she stops.she turn with light pressure, i am teaching her to neck rein she never did before, but she is getting it. I have never yanked on her mouth and never will. The girl who had her before me told me she runs right through most other bits I can not ride her in a plain snaffle beacuse i know that would not be the right bit for us for barrel racing. so what bit is soft enough (providing this bit is so harsh, which im really not thinking it is) that will also work for barrel racing if this bit is not good?So please take all this in before you answer if the bit is too strong for my horse…..If you think it is too strong please tell me WHY you think it is, and make sure to give me another bit i can try…please remember though that i do barrel race so i don’t think a plain snaffle will cut it for barrels.Sorry this is so long but i really would like to know why every one thinks this bit is so harsh and what kind of bit i should use. Thanks!!
A: It is a very harsh bit, and even good hands can’t get that twisted wire nighmare off of her sensitive tissues. The gag effect just multiplies the harshness. The fact that she runs through a milder bit means she needs more training. If the horse cannot perform everything in a mild snaffle, then more training is in order. A bit is not the brakes. The horse should be trained to slow and stop on cues from your seat and legs. The bit is for communication, and should not be engaged as the cue to stop. Engaging the bit should be the last cue, as the horse is already stopping. When you are retraining a horse to respond to body cues, a mild snaffle is best. I prefer the smooth single jointed copper mouthpiece on a full cheek snaffle. The full cheeks help to signal for lateral movements and turns. When the horse is responding to your weight, this bit would be a good choice for running barrels because it helps with your turn cues. You can also add bit keepers to the upper cheek bar which keeps the bit stable in position and creates slight leverage on the poll.Anyway, I would consider going with this type of bit, and working on improving her responses to body cues for slowing and stopping her movement.
Help with my Poetic Analysis?
Q: Hello,I really need some help with a poetic analysis of the song “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. The lyrics of the song are as follows:There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is goldAnd she’s buying the stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closedWith a word she can get what she came for.Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying the stairway to heaven. There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure’Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings,Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.Ooh, it makes me wonder,Ooh, it makes me wonder. There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west,And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,And the voices of those who stand looking.Ooh, it makes me wonder,Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tuneThen the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn for those who stand longAnd the forests will echo with laughter. If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now,It’s just a spring clean for the May queen.Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long runThere’s still time to change the road you’re on.And it makes me wonder.Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know,The piper’s calling you to join him,Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you knowYour stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the roadOur shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all knowWho shines white light and wants to showHow everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hardThe tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is allTo be a rock and not to roll. And she’s buying the stairway to heaven.I need to know all the poetic devices that were used in this song and where. I have a list of devices that i have been informed about, but you are not limited to: hyperbole, internal rhyme, personification, metaphor, onomatopoeia, simile, alliteration, compression, end rhyme, imagery, irony and extended metaphor. I already have my thoughts written down, but i want to make sure i found them all. i have triple checked that i found them all, but you never can be too sure! Thanks in advance!
A: There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold (imagery)And she’s buying the stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closedWith a word she can get what she came for. (end rhyme/ internal rhyme, “for/stores”)Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying the stairway to heaven. (the “ooh” is not onomatopoeia in my opinion, because it’s not part of the lyrics.)There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure’Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings, (imagery)Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. (end rhyme- meaning/misgiven)Ooh, it makes me wonder,Ooh, it makes me wonder. There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west, (internal rhyme get/west, more like assonance or pseudo-rhyme)And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees, (imagery)And the voices of those who stand looking. (imagery)Ooh, it makes me wonder,Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tune (internal rhyme- soon/tune)Then the piper will lead us to reason. (And a new day will dawn for those who stand long (internal rhyme dawn/long assonanceAnd the forests will echo with laughter. (imagery)If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now, (IR- hedgerow/now)It’s just a spring clean for the May queen. (clean/queen)Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There’s still time to change the road you’re on.(run/on end rhyme)And it makes me wonder.Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know, (go/know)The piper’s calling you to join him,Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know (know/blow)Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the roadOur shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all knowWho shines white light and wants to showHow everything still turns to gold. (road/soul/know/show/gold are all assonance rhyme, but know and show are the only exact rhymes)And if you listen very hardThe tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is allTo be a rock and not to roll. (roll/all stretch…but intended to be rhyme)And she’s buying the stairway to heaven.(the whole song is extended metaphor)-this is as much as i felt like doing. this for a class or something? depending on your reading of this too, the lines that say “make me wonder” could be ironic as well. i didn’t mark all the “imagery” because anything that’s an image… see, smell, taste, feel, hear . . . is imagery. you should be able to mark those all up on your own.
Why do I get light-headed from physical exercise?…?
Q: Elaboration (maybe more detail than needed, but read please to fully understand):I am 18 years old, 5’10” and 158-ish pounds. It is my goal to play football in college (and ultimately my goal is the NFL, as crazy as it sounds). I realize that at the current weight I’m at, I will never go anywhere in football, so I’ve bumped my calorie intake to 3,500-4,000 calories/day.I really do not eat a lot of junk food since going on this high calorie diet, so most of it is healthier food. I try to track it to make sure I’m getting enough carbs, protein, and fat, and not too much of either of those.I’ve played soccer for the past 4 years and basketball for 6+ years. Since football is a much more physical sport, I’m well aware that I need to work out and gain muscle. I work out my upper body every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 in the morning before school, and I work out my lower body/back/legs Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30. Friday-Sunday I take off to make sure my muscles get enough time to heal and regrow (working out is the main reason I increased my calorie intake). Now on to my problem…Through the past years (mainly high school), I feel as though I’ve been hindered from reaching my full potential because of this.I am by no means out of shape. When I run (mountain climbers, weezers/suicides/killers/whatever you call them, etc; any extended sprints), I get light-headed and my vision goes blurry and it hurts my head and eyes to focus and I just feel exhausted. It’ll go away anywhere from 15-30 minutes. This happens randomly; some days I’ll be fine, some days it hits me. However, running sprints at the end of basketball practice usually results in me getting light-headed.This is so disappointing because I know I am not reaching my full potential in anything physical because of this. I take in enough carbs, proteins, and fats. I have a bottle of water that I constantly refill through the school day, so it’s not a dehydration problem.I don’t know what the deal is anymore, but if anyone has a solution or any advice/experience with this, please let me know. I CAN’T be the best I can be with this problem. And I need to get rid of it.
A: Are you getting enough iron in your diet? Anemia can cause light headedness with exercise. You should be getting anywhere from 30-40 mg’s a day. It could also be a heart rhythm disorder. Have you seen a heart doctor in your life time? There are ton’s more possibilities but those are the most common.
