- Q: well march the 29th i found out i was 7 weeks pregnant, but unfortunately i suffered a miscarriage about 4 days later, it went to the hospital on the 3rd of april and the miscarriage was made official.i was lucky that it was all natural and i didn't need any medical assistance with it. i had severe cramping and lots of heavy blood and clotting, luckily it only went on for about 7-9 days.my first period came about 3 weeks after, and lasted 13 days, at first it was just really bad cramping with light spotting, more into it i again had severe cramping and lots of clotting with heavy blood.now just 16 days later im experiencing my 2nd period after the miscarriage, im only on day 2 but again the heavy bleeding and clotting is back, the clots are quite big and there are quite a few of them.so i guess im asking is this normal after a miscarriage?i understand that after something like that it will take awhile for my body to get back to normal. -but should my periods come so close together??-should there be this much clotting??-does having heavy periods with lots of clots mean it will be harder for me to get pregnant again in the future?-will they get back into a normal cycle? roughly when?-my mother has very heavy periods she's had the coil fitted i think to calm them down, is this why i get heavy periods is it genetic?(also i do sometimes have heavy periods but i don't think this heavy with this much clotting, tbh i can't remember my last proper one, but i think these are more heavier than ive had before)also i know if you soak through 2-3 pads in an hour, that it can be very dangerous and you must seek medical help asap but it isn't that bad =]but any advice would be really helpful or even if you could share your experiences that would be great... =]and if anyone knows any information about the time just after having a miscarriage it would all be really helpful.thank you in advance x
- A: heysorry for your lossyes its normal to have very heavy bleeding, and clotting on your period for a couple of months after losing a baby. my son was stillborn in august 2009 and i bled for 2 months straight, very heavily and clotting every day. i would advise you go to your doctor and ask them to put you on iron tabs incase you are losing too much blood. this will not make it harder for you to get pregnant in the future. its just your bodys way of cleaning itself out. your periods will go back to normal.
