Girlfriend blaming herself for baby miscarriage?
Q: I found out a while ago that my gf of 2 yrs was pregnant. But then, one day, we found out the baby had died. It was awful news and we cried for a while. But, because she was so far into the pregnancy, that they had to perform a cesarean to get our baby out. On the day, we were very emotional. But when they were getting the baby out, she shouted ‘I cant do it! I cant do it!’ I was trying to calm her down but she just shouted ‘I have been carrying a dead baby! It kills me to know that when the bay comes into this world, its not gunna cry, its just gunna lie there still!’ We were both crying so much when they asked her if she wanted to hold it. She nodded. I said ‘are you sure?’ she nodded again. But when she held the baby, she was crying very heavily and shouted to me ‘Im so sorry! Im so sorry!’ I cried more so and told her its not her fault. It was so heartbreaking. But now, she is blaming herself for whats happened and she thinks its her fault the baby died. I tell her its not her fault but she just cries and shouts ‘it is!’. I dont know what to do. It hurts for both of us, but she is blaming herself for the miscarriage. Have you got any advice on how we can get through this? Thnx

Chances of a miscarriage if baby seems fine?
Q: I know what the chances are for a miscarriage, but if you have already had a sonogram and are told the baby seems fine and has a strong heart beat/rate/pulse, does that mean you can still miscarry. I hope this isn’t a stupid question. I didn’t know if there were any warning signs that the doctor would be able to see in a sonogram or something, or if a miscarriage is more unpredictable. I was just wondering since I’m still early in my pregnancy, only 10 weeks, and they did the sonogram so early to see how far along I was because I couldn’t remember when my last period occurred (I have a horrible memory and it’s never really been regular). But I wanted to know if even though they told me the baby is fine now, whether something could still go wrong. My friend’s mom (and my boss) keeps telling me not to tell anyone I’m pregnant until I’m 3 months along in case I miscarry, so she’s got me a little freaked out.
A: Just relax. If the doctor says the baby is fine, then have faith in that. A strong heartbeat, rate and pulse is always a big plus as well. Like I said, just relax. So you’ve only got 2 more weeks to go to tell people. Just take it easy and take good care of yourself throughout your pregnancy. Sounds to me like you are totally fine….but I understand where you are coming from. I miscarried twice (after telling people immediately). I just had a baby girl in November 2007 and I waited to tell a few people. I am now 8 weeks and 5 days and I’ve already told people. The bottom line is that it’s in God’s hands.God bless you and I’m sure you will be fine. Keep the faith~~
if you have a miscarriage, how do they get the baby out?
Q: and what is d&c?
A: Either it comes out on it’s own or you have D&C or both. That’s where they go into your uterus through your cervix and remove all the tissue.
