Though no research has found any increased risk of miscarriage in women who continue breast-feeding during pregnancy, women might want to consider weaning if they are experiencing bleeding during early pregnancy, says Dr. Berens. But be sur…

Can a bacterial infection, (BV) cause a miscarriage in pregnancy??
Q: Does anyone know FROM EXPERIENCE (doctor, nurse, mom, etc) whether BV will cause a miscarriage. I have read everywhere…but it seems that every site says something different.
A: BV can cause pregnancy complications such as premature rupture of the membranes, and intraamniotic infection, which may lead to low birth weight. All BV is, is a bacteria that you naturally have in your vagina that over produces. sorta like with a yeast infection. All you have to do is take an antibiotic like Flagyl for a week and it gone. If it goes untreated it will cause cramping and a foul smelling discharge and depending how prego you are could cause preterm labor. A misscarriage however is doubtful
Just found out I’m pregnant and the ob/gyn wants me to stop nursing immediately….?
Q: My first son is 18 months old. He’s still nursing. Actually, the way he was nursing is what was really a dead give away I was pregnant. My supply dropped terribly and he nursed his little butt off to get my supply back up.It’s finally up, REALLY good now.I am type 1 diabetic, so automatically I’m a high-risk patient, even if I’m in good health…which I am right now. The best ever since I became diabetic.I’m currently 4 weeks pregnant right now and I’ve continued to nurse.I spoke with the ob/gyn and they said I must stop nursing IMMEDIATELY. They said nursing while pregnant can cause miscarriage, bleeding, premature labor etc etc etc. They said that was the reason they wanted me to stop immediately…not anything to do with diabetes. They’ve got me totally freaked out now and I don’t even know what I should do at this point.I feel awful having to make my son abruptly stop nursing because of this pregnancy, but then again, if there is a risk of losing the pregnancy, I don’t want to chance that either.Anyone nurse while pregnant and make it the whole way through?? Some advice here would be awesome! Thanks.Oh, and I asked this question in nb&b because I know most of the women in the pregnancy section are only on their first pregnancy. A lot of you have already had children and are pregnant again! So hopefully I get some good advice!
A: I NURSED MY SON THROUGH MY DAUGHTER’S PREGNANCY AND AM STILL NURSING BOTH! If they said that the reason they want you to quit has nothing to do with diabetes then they don’t know their ecological breastfeeding info! Pick up a copy of Hilary Flower’s Adventure’s in Tandem Nursing. It discusses at great lengths nursing while pregnant – with one or multiples, nursing both after and what to eat from beginning to end. I recently finished this book even though I am 10 months into tandem nursing. And girl, ya know you can talk to me about this on my space!
Why does a miscarriage occur?
Q: I had a miscarriage last week. I was 10 weeks pregnant. Can jumping up and down make someone lose a unborn baby? What about nursing a baby already would that cause a miscarriage to occur?
A: Miscarriages can happen for all sorts of reasons. And most likely it is nothing you did. Sometimes the baby has a genetic issue, so the baby terminates itself. Sometimes, there is an issue with the mother having a different RH factor than the baby in her blood. This occurrs in few women, and it is not a problem until your second pregnancy. A doctor would test for this if they are concerned. Sometimes the mother’s uterus isn’t equipped to carry a fetus, again something a doc would check for. And sometimes, it just happens. I have heard that nursing while you are pregnant can cause pre-term labor because nursing stimulates contractions, but you would have noticed this when you were nursing, and it has never been proven to cause miscarriage early on, it is only in theory. I personally nursed my daughter for the first three months of my second pregnancy, and everything was fine. I would doubt that jumping up and down did anything. I went to an amuzement park and went on all sorts of rides when I was like 6 weeks pregnant, without knowing, and no miscarriage occurred. Don’t blame yourself!!
