i have ADHD and my Dr. said to take 2 pills of 36MG Concerta, but i am taking advantage of it! im scared help?
Q: hi, my name is Hadi, and i am a 17 year old senior in high school. i just found out about 3 or 4 weeks ago i have ADHD. well i really didnt find out, i just finally said something about it. as in 1st till 7th grade i was a great student! then as my cockiness came out threw 8th till 12th i start acting like im the coolest kid ever, i can get away with anything, i know everything you don, just a real douchebag! =P and i was never paying any attention is school and even though i would really try, the smallest thing would distract me. so i told my doctor that i can concentrate and i dont know what to do and i was telling him how im nervous to go to college because its going to be a lot of studying and work! so my doctor gave me Concerta in 58 MG and then had an appt two weeks after to see how i like it. i said i like it but feels like it does not last very long. he switched it to taking two 36MG in the morning making it 72MG a day. i said ok. so i took two one day then i start taking advantage of it and taking 4 pills in a row one day then next take 7 pills at once and then take 3 pills then one hour after take 3 more. and i was thinking that if i take more it would make me even more want to achieve something. but then i started to feel very depressed! and bring my self down saying to my self “your not the one making your self smart, its the pills! your nothing, with out thoughs pills your worthless!” then the next day i realized i was being stupid and maybe i was feeling soooo depressed was being im not taking a normal amount! so im im going to start tomorrow on just taking two a day and keep it up. maybe even skip tomorrow then start the next day. but i dont know if this is why i felt so depressed and putting my self down… what do you think? i know i did a wrong thing and you lurn from your mistakes and i def did today! 🙂 i just want to see what you think. i going to tell my doctor when hes back from the holidays! so if you want to see a daily update on how im feeling by going back to only 72Mg a day instead of different numbers each day really changed you can add me on yahoo messenger – [email protected] and also if you have MSN add me for more updates on me! MSN- [email protected] thank you for all your help and happy holidays! 🙂
A: barry is absolutely 100% WRONG!medication like concerta is the safest and most effective way to control ADHDand study and stusdy and study again and again say that when used properly with adhd, stimulant medication DECREASES the chasnce for addiction, meaning that you will NOT become an addict.trust me i have been on it for 15 years, I am NOT an addict. does an addict forget to take their medication? does an addict do very very well in school? i dont think so. do not listen to anybody who tells you that you should not take your medication. i have been on strong high doses of adhd stimulants since i was 9 years old. i am 24 now and i have had no negative side effects and i am completing my bachelor’s degree in child psychology. listen to me very carefullyIF YOU HAVE ADHD THE BEST TREATMENT IS A COMBINATION OF STIMULANT MEDICATION AND TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DISABILITIES SERVICE AT YOU COLLEGEI do this and I have awesome grades. trust me there is nothing wrong about taking concerta.people try to scare you into believing that drugs are bad because they have an agenda and most of the negative attacks on adhd and adhd drugs come from the church of scientology who in their very own words claim that adhd is a fraud because “there is no physical blood test for it”this is the most trustworthy source:http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/ADHD.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74XZAzaMa3Ehttp://www.additudemag.com/index.htmlhttp://www.chadd.org/the other sources at the bottom are not as highly recognized but are correct nonetheless.all of these very trustworthy sources say the same thing: ADHD medication is not bad if taken properly and under doctor’s orders.medications become dangerous when kids who aren’t diagnosed start to take them or when people crush them up and snort them and you do not sound stupid so i am not afraid that you are going to snort them up. you can obviously see why snorting medication is bad for you and bad for your lungs. so just dont snort it, dont take more than your dosage, and you will be 100% fine.small side effects will be there of course, like not being hungry, or not being able to sleep for about 6 hours after you take your meds. but if you take them in the morning then there isnt a problem.and sometimes they make your blood pressure go up a little but there is such safe medication for blood pressure. i am on a very very low dose of lisinopril. just 10 mg.again, DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO SAY TO CHANGE YOUR DIET OR TO GET MORE EXERCISE OR WHATEVER! these people are uninformed and do not understand neurobiology, biochemistry, or psychiatry.you sound super smart and it is ok to be scared when you first start out with treating your adhd. just hang in there and things will be A OKjust remember when people start listing natural herbs or oils or anything like that, then call them out on it and tell them that it is not ok to recommend those types of quack cures that do not work. if they did work then dont you think there would be lots and lots of doctors putting kids on fish oils and stuff?just let your eyes glaze over and start thinking about kittens or something when people like Barry talk to you about the dangers of medication. because in reality the dangers are ZERO if taken properly
My 16 year old daughter has ADHD, BIPOLAR, and ODD?
Q: My 16 year old daughter has been diagnosed with bipolar mood disorder, odd, and ADHD for the longest time. She does not want to take pills and I respect that. She has an IEP at school and she doesn’t learn/comprehend as fast as most kids. Based on this little information; I have a few questions: 1. My daughter is 16 and still in the 9th grade. She should be going to 11th this year. She moved out of state with her father (where she stayed back twice because they lost/never transferred her records; therefor, she didn’t receive the IEP). She really wants to be in 11th grade this year. She says she needs the IEP/extra help this year too. Do you think they will put her in 11th grade this year since it was not her fault that she didn’t/couldn’t understand her work without the IEP?2. My daughter can’t get a job; the bipolar can make her very rude, impatient, and aggravated at times; and her ADHD can make her really hyper, playful, and a little childish at times. I’m hoping to get her a tutor this year for school (she also has a social worker and counselor)..but I cannot afford to hire one. My question is..Does she qualify for SSI; perhaps to help me pay for a tutor this year so she can at least make it out of high school? Please let me know; everything is appreciated.*I am located in Massachusetts if that makes a difference in your answer.Thank you in advance.
A: As a person who was diagnosed with ODD when I was little and bi polar since I was 13, the best thing for her is to be on medicine. Somehow convince her of this, which I know will be hard. But with bipolar, you may think you’re okay, but it is just a mood swing (irritation, anger builds up) just waiting to happen. Also it may help to put her in a young church group so she has tools to overcome her anger. Therapy would help also if she absolutely isn’t willing to take medicine. But therapy+medicine will be the strongest combo. Tell her that if she does this for awhile, then she can eventually wean herself off the meds and just go to therapy. Any more questions just email me. = )If you cant afford to get her a tutor then perhaps look into financial aid assistance from the state. And also you can apply for SSI because people with mood disorders are elligible, but it may take a while for you to get it, if you even do.

A: I had a very similar experience about 20 years ago while having a stroke.I didn’t pray but I saw the group of people in a setting like a courtroom. They apparently didn’t want me and sent me back. I felt a bit like a fish that was too little and the fishermen threw me back in.A bit disconcerting isn’t it?Love and blessings Don
