A: When I first got mine done, I waited six weeks before taking it out – a precaution i was told to take at the jewellery shop. However, afterwards, I was made to take it out for sport at school. This was only for a couple of hours and I had no trouble getting the stud back in. However, when I changed to a thinner stud, the hole closed quite quickly around it. I would be careful, and maybe keep the stud in for longer than the six weeks recommended, just to make sure that it won’t clear up too quickly.
