do all tattoos scab?
Q: i keep seeing questions about people a and their tattoo scabs. Mine never scabbed and just healed up….do all tattoos scab? Just wondering….
A: Tattoo scabbing depends on two things: placement and depth.Highly sensitive skin (inner forarms, chest, private areas) tend to scab more than skin that is constantly exposed to elements (the sun, harsh clothing, razors, lotions) that toughen the skin up.The depth of the tattoo needle also affects the scabbing. In general, the deeper the needle goes, the more trauma to the skin. The more trauma to the skin, the more scabbing you will have. That’s why some tattoos scab only in some places while others scab all over yet others don’t scab at all.Depth of the needle also has a hand in how long the ink will stay clear. The deeper the needle goes, the faster it will blur over the years. So if your tattoo didn’t scab, consider yourself lucky! Your ink lines will stay cleaner slightly longer than someone who got a tattoo the same day as you who scabbed.
How long will my tattoo scab?
Q: I got my tattoo about 6 days ago. It’s a small butterfly on my lower part of stomach. I told the tattoo artist I was going to use bacitration ointment. For the first few days, that’s what I was using. Then it started to peel and scab. I know tattoos peel and scab. How long will my tattoo scab for? Also, the scab is almost gone. The ink seems as if it’s not as potent as it was on day one. Why is that?
A: My tattoo took 7 hours, so mines a little bigger then yours, but mine was scabbed for about 2-3 weeks. Something smaller will probably heal faster though. Just DON’T ITCH IT!!! If you itch it some color from your tattoo will come off in the scab.If you arn’t happy with the color when it’s done. Any reputably artist will touch it up for free. :)The first few days after it’s done scabing, it will look a little “dull”. Give it a few days and if it’s not better, call your artist. :)Use Lubriderm 2-3 times a day. I used it more because I have dry skin anyway and my tattoo made it worse. But my tattoo is just as bright as the day I got it. 🙂
How long does it take for a tattoo scab to fall off?
Q: I had a small tattoo a week ago today. Bits of the scab are falling off. How long does it usually take for the scab to fall off completely? Is that the final stage of healing? Is there anything special I need to do during this time?
A: yea dont scratch it… as much as it itches… dont scratch it at all… i made that mistake n know i have to get it done again because some of the ink came off… i would give it about 2 wks… Keep it moisturerized, I used A & D for my first tattoo. For my 2nd i didnt take care of it n its kind of messed up now… just be patient
