Vengeance: 2011 Predictions

LAST MAN STANDING WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio (Champion)

After winning the Championship at SummerSlam Del Rio fell short at Night of Champions, where he lost the Championship to John Cena. Del Rio redeemed himself at Hell In A Cell when he outsmarted Cena by locking him out of the Cell. This allowed Del Rio to go one on one with Punk, who he was able to defeat and recapture the WWE Championship. Now that Del Rio has recaptured the Championship he can not lose it this soon, especially to Cena. If the WWE still wanted Cena to be Champion they should have let him defeat Del Rio and Punk at Hell In A Cell. I’m not sure why the WWE took the Championship off Del Rio for a few weeks but they should not take the Championship off him for a while. Cena earned the right to make this a Last Man Standing Match when Cena and Jim Ross defeated Del Rio and Michael Cole. Cena has put himself at a disadvantage by making this a Last Man Standing Match. Del Rio can receive assistance from his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez or even some outside help. We could see Brodus Clay or the newly unmasked Sin Cara help Del Rio keep his Championship. For those reasons I’m giving the victory to Del Rio.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Big Show vs. Mark Henry (Champion)

Henry said it best when he refused to give Big Show a Championship Match for not defeating anyone. Henry has a point, Show has not defeated anyone. Show returned from injury, that should not guarantee him a Championship Match. Show took matters into his own hands and was about to injure Henry when SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long stepped in. Long promised Show his Championship Match as long as he did not injure Henry. Show obliged, earning himself this Match at Vengeance. Even though Show has this Match he is still a long shot to win. The WWE should allow Henry to defeat Show, next month Henry should defend his Championship against Kane (whom he also injured). After beating Kane, The Undertaker should return to take on Henry. Not sure if the WWE will play it that way but either way Henry will be walking out of Vengeance the World Heavyweight Champion. For those reasons I’m giving the victory to Henry.

Winner: Mark Henry

TAG TEAM MATCH: Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth)

The Awesome Truth should win this Match; However, the WWE has a conspiracy going against them. The conspiracy started with R-Truth. Truth went one on one with John Cena at Capitol Punishment. Truth was on his way to victory until a fan threw water in Truth’s face causing a distraction that allowed Cena to pick up the victory. The conspiracy against Truth continued as he was placed in Raw’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Truth felt this Match was unfair because he was afraid of spiders and heights. After months of complaining about a conspiracy Truth finally got The Miz to jump on board. Truth convinced The Miz that a conspiracy was taking place when HHH held a WWE Championship Tournament even though CM Punk was returning as Champion. With The Miz on board, The Awesome Truth set out to battle WWE Tag Team Champions Air Boom at Night of Champions. It looked like The Awesome Truth would be victorious until the referee did not see a tag between The Miz and R-Truth. This caused the referee to hold Truth back while The Miz covered Bourne for more than three seconds. When the referee finally turned around Bourne kicked out. This caused The Miz to argue with the referee and shove him down. Leading to the team being disqualified. Later that night The Awesome Truth attacked HHH and CM Punk during their Match. Causing HHH to fire the duo the following night. The duo returned on ‘A Raw To Remember’ when they were reinstated by John Laurinaitis. Laurinaitis also booked them in this Match against HHH and CM Punk. Laurinaitis might feel he is doing the duo a favor by booking them in this Match but when Vengeance rolls around the duo will fall short. For those reasons I’m giving the victory to HHH and Punk.

Winners: Triple H & CM Punk

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler (Champion)

Ryder has had Ziggler’s number over the past month. Ryder defeated Ziggler on Raw with the help of Hugh Jackman. He also helped Air Boom pick up the victory over Ziggler, Swagger, and Ryan. Even though Ryder has had Ziggler’s numbers I’m not sure if the WWE will give Ryder the Championship. Ryder is already performing well as Internet Champion. Besides that it would be unlikely for Ziggler to walk out of Vengeance without a Championship, unless the WWE is planning on having him turn face and walk away from Vickie Guerrero. For those reasons I’m giving the victory to Dolph Ziggler.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger vs. Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston)

These two teams faced off earlier this month at Hell In A Cell with Air Boom walking away with the victory. Now that they are facing off again I’m wondering if Dolph Ziggler will follow The Miz’s path to the WWE Championship. Before winning the WWE Championship, The Miz carried the United States Championship and Tag Team Championships at the same time. If Ziggler can successfully defend his United States Championship against Zack Ryder, he will have the opportunity to do the same; However, if Ziggler and Swagger were to win the Tag Team Championships, every Champion would be a heel(if no other Championships changed hands at the PPV). The WWE would not let every Championship be held by a heel. For that reason I’m giving the victory to Air Boom.

Winners: Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston)

DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Eve vs. Beth Phoenix (Champion)

Phoenix won the Championship earlier this month by defeating Kelly Kelly at Hell In A Cell. Since it has been less than one month since Phoenix won the Championship it is unlikely that she would lose. For that reason I’m giving the victory to Beth Phoenix.

Winner: Beth Phoenix

MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes

The WWE should allow Rhodes to win this Match. Rhodes has been getting the upper hand on Orton the past few weeks. Rhodes cost Orton his Championship Match against Mark Henry on SmackDown. Rhodes followed that up by ‘Bagging’ Orton on Monday Night Raw. Even though Rhodes has been getting the upper hand, Orton has lost at the last two PPVs. At Night Of Champions, Orton lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Mark Henry. When Orton got his rematch at Hell In A Cell, he was unable to win back the Championship. It seems unlikely that the WWE would allow Orton to lose at three consecutive PPVs. For that reason I’m giving the victory to Randy Orton.

Winner: Randy Orton

MATCH: Sheamus vs. Christian

Sheamus defeated Christian earlier this month when these two faced off at Hell In A Cell. This time around Christian should get the upper hand. That would allow the feud between these two to continue for another month. For that reason I’m giving the victory to Christian.

Winner: Christian
