Three Great Vacations for a Thanksgiving Holiday, with or Without Family

With family members and friends spread across the country, many people find themselves without relatives to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with, or they might be torn trying to make a decision on which family to visit where, and find it easier to go it alone than to make a decision that might offend.

If you want to take advantage of the time off and find yourself without plans this year, here are three options to consider.

Thanksgiving football

If you’re a football fan, you may have had your Thanksgiving game interrupted too many times to count by well-meaning guests or family who want to include you in the conversation while you just want to watch the game. Now’s your chance to watch without interruption. Go the game!

There are some great games this November 24. If you want a warmer climate, consider going to Texas for the Miami Dolphins at Dallas Cowboys match. There are many great restaurants in Dallas to choose from if you’re still hungry a Thanksgiving meal.

The San Francisco 49ers will be playing the Baltimore Ravens if you think you would enjoy world famous Maryland crab. If you still crave some American history, visit the USS Constellation or the Baltimore Civil War Museum.

The Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers will battle it out in Detroit against the Lions as well. This should be a great game to watch, with the Detroit Lions currently at 5-2 and having one of their best seasons in recent memory. While in Detroit you could also visit the Motown Museum and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Skiing in Vermont

With the early and abundant snowfall in the northeast this fall, the ski resorts in Vermont will be ready for skiing by Thanksgiving. Vermont offers some amazing slopes, and many of the state’s resorts have some great Thanksgiving deals this year.

The Mountain Top Inn and Resort in Chittenden, Vermont is offering a deal that includes skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating as well as luxury accommodations for just $89 per person per night.

Thanksgiving Parade in New York City

How about Thanksgiving in the Big Apple and watching the 85th Annual Macy’s Day Parade in person? You’ve probably watched it on television for years, as it’s a staple on most everyone’s November holiday itinerary. Arrive early and experience the sights and sounds of the city as never before.

The parade is much more than floats. The best people watching in the world can be found, and on Thanksgiving Day there will be lots of celebrities for those who hope to catch a glimpse of one of their favorite stars.

You’ll find a variety of vacation packages for the event as well, with some including Thanksgiving dinner, special parade view rooms, balloon and holiday lights tours and more.
