The World Series Isn’t the World Series

I love baseball. I spent a good portion of my childhood summers listening to the game on the radio while I did something else. My Pop used to take me to the game and taught me how keep score at the game as part of the game.
The Cardinals of St. Louis vs. the Rangers of Texas, two teams from middle America with good pitching and great hitting. Lets hope it goes down to game seven . Two teams that have battled back all year. I look forward to a great bunch of games and no blow outs, a great series, but it isn’t a world series, it’s an American series.
Japan, Korea, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, South America, lots of good baseball. There are a lot of international players in the “big leagues” today and there will be a lot of those international players starring for both teams in this year’s series, so I understand the argument that the best players in the world play here, and that calling the series “The World Series” is a tradition. So what?
It should be a great series, with two excellent teams represented, but it ain’t a world series. Soccer/football has a world series. Baseball does not.
