The La Canadienne Ramona Fall 2011 Boot: Not Just a Boot – an Ooh La La Experience

I am officially in love with a shoe. La Canadienne Ramona is now on my wish list. I’m like seriously having a shoegasm. Picture it: Luxurious Italian calf skin caressing your calf as you whisk through puddles on urban avenues nonchalantly, as these boots are waterproof. All the while your feet are cushioned in a MEMORY FOAM (!) insole…oh, my feet on a little bed of softness…microfiber inner lining that is antibacterial for keeping your feet fresh and also cozy in cold weather…and I haven’t yet described the look of the boot that had me at “Bon jour” (I would have said had me at “hello” but these boots are made in Montreal).

This boot is absolutely classic: the style of the stitching, rounded over the arch of the foot; the boot itself sculpts in just above the ankle to give your legs comely shape. I feel like this boot is vaguely 1880’s retro, with the style of the heel and the rounded lines, but has only taken the good bits of that era. At the top of the boot is stitching that rounds up towards the back of the calf, also giving a flattering shape to the leg-the dream leg, lovely muscle tone yet still maintaining gentle femininity. The heel is not too high, not too low, it’s like what Goldilocks would term “just right” heels, and chic-yes, chic.

Although manufactured in Canada, the components of the shoe are Italian, and who knows how to craft a great boot? Buon giorno! Nobody does a boot like Italian craftsmen. Now, let’s talk practicality. The traction on these boots is going to keep you grounded-no slipping. The zipper is full length–so no tugging-easy in and out. Last but not least, there is what I believe is called “goring” at the top-anyway, they are little built in accents at the top of the boot that stretch with each step and allow for flexibility as your calf moves-so no chafing or rubbing or constricting. This boot is worth every penny in terms of comfort and luxury, and will be “en vogue” with it’s classic and stylish design for years to come.
