SDSU Aztecs Recruit “BIG” in 2012

If there was ever a time to get BIG in the offensive line now was that time. Aztec football has been infamous for having too small of a line to keep up with the “Big Boys” in Div. I football. In response to that criticism, the desire to get big was necessary; or should I say, an absolutism. The 2012 recruiting class is rich in talent and the O-line is no exception. Three huge lineman to speak of turn out to be BIG catches for head coach Rocky Long.

SDSU fans should be very happy with Nico Siragusa from Chula Vista, California; he is everything but undersized. This highly touted and sought after recruit was heavily recruited by PAC 12 schools (i.e., Oregon State, Washington State, Colorado etc), yet he chose to stay local and play with the Aztecs. Rated a three star by Rivals he comes in at a stout 6-6, 310 lbs. Typically incoming OL recruits red shirt so thay can use the additional year to gain mass and strength to compete at the next level; however, with his size look for Nico in the starting line-up his Freshman year.

Kwayde Miller is another BIG boy and at 6-8, 290 lbs he will be a force to reckon with; moreover, when the trainers get a hold of him he will invariably dominate the line of scrimmage. He was another one of those highly touted recruits that was heavily recruited by BCS schools; in particular, Oregon, Wisconsin and Oregon State. Yet this BIG from Ramona California decided to stay local as well. He will bring legitimacy to the offensive line in terms of pure talent and shear size. Look for Miller to go down as one of the best lineman to ever don an Aztec uniform.

Arthur Flores out of Colorado’s Mullen High School weighs in at a cool 285lbs. Flores went under the radar for most of the recruiting period. He decided to commit early to SDSU, so interest from other schools dropped off quickly; however, the schools that were interested in him early was impressive: Boise State, Colorado, Penn State and UTAH to name a few. So Aztec fans should breath a sigh of relief in netting this BIG fish. He will most likely red shirt in 2012 to gain strength and add more mass. Look for Flores to shine as an Aztec.

Of course, there are three more behemoth’s that fans can add to the list of giants that I previously showcased. To really appreciate how good this O-line recruiting class is the average mass of all 6 BIGs is a whopping 285 lbs! This years recruiting class is that next little step in making a good program into a Nationally ranked program. Think of the possibilities with Dillon Baxter eligible to play after next year and one full year of development for this incoming O-Line…well, the Aztec’s first year in the Big East could be a “BIG” one.
