Las Vegas is set to be jam-packed with pre-Halloween film events. A number of these are free and paid weekend screenings of family-friendly and adult movies, most of which fall under the horror genre. Theatre7 at the Downtown Arts District hosts “PollyGrind Presents: Mindscapes” from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. This two-day event showcases a series of independent films and musical performances from local and visiting artists. The film program “Fearophilia” follows right after. Tickets are sold for $10 each night. Discounted tickets are also available when purchasing tickets for two nights.

Sponsored by the local government, the Centennial Hills Amphitheatre features the family movie “Casper” for its “Free Movie in the Park” series at 7:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, food, and refreshments to enjoy a free movie and picnic night.

The University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Theater, Film and Television holds a free information session at the Las Vegas Hampton Inn near McCarran International Airport. This event meant for prospective students of UCLA’s theater and film programs happens from 10:00 a.m. to noon. RSVP online is required.

Theatre7 holds the second day of “PollyGrind Presents: Mindscapes,” a film festival featuring independent works from various filmmakers. The event also showcases music performances from guest artists. Screening starts at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are sold at $10 each. The film program “Fearophilia” follows at 10:30 p.m.

The Sci-Fi Center begins the two-day screening of the film “Rubber” starting at 9:00 p.m. A Q&A session happens right after the screening. Tickets are sold for $5 each.

In line with the Halloween season, the Clark County Library features the 1933 film “The Invisible Man” for its movie series “Tuesday Afternoon at the Bijou: Universal’s Horror Classics.” Locals and tourists are welcome to attend this free adult and senior event happening from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the library’s Main Theater.

For its Las Vegas leg, three Las Vegas theaters, including Century 18 Sam’s Town, Santa Fe Station Hotel and Casino, and Regal Village Square Stadium 18 host the simultaneous screenings of the horror-thriller double-feature event showcasing the films “Butterfinger the 13th” and “Jack the Ripper: The Definitive Story” starting at 8:15 p.m. These Halloween offerings are coming out in select theaters nationwide.
