How to Choose the Right Strategy to Deliver Your Message

Like many other coaches, you joined the industry with the desire to become a successful coach, to have as many clients as possible and to increase your revenue. You have tried many strategies to promote yourself and your business, to get more clients every day, but your efforts haven’t paid off.

As hard as it may be to grasp, the truth is that you have used other people’s strategies, and not your own. You tried to put into practice someone else’s vision, and that vision didn’t fit with your needs, your standards, your skills. And as a result, you couldn’t deliver the right message about yourself to your potential clients.

It is time for you to change the strategy and understand that the only one that works is the one which represents you, which uses your talents, your abilities. You don’t need elaborate strategies or very expensive ones; all you need is to focus on what you can do and what you want to do and start from there.

It may be hard to change everything all of a sudden, but since that hasn’t worked, why not try something that actually gets you results?

So here are a few steps to take to help you develop your own strategy:

Use your own skills and talents

I’m sure you know by now what your strengths and assets are. If you need a reminder, make a list of your skills and talents you could use in your business. They must set the foundation for all your work, for your sessions, products and programmes. Use your own ideas and you will see that clients come to those coaches who are genuine, and do not try to copy somebody else’s ideas. They will come to those who convey a message that speaks from the heart and represents who they really are.

Do not coach everyone on everything

You may think that’s wrong, that you will end up losing a lot of clients. On the contrary, it is so much easier to get started once you have a specific market to aim at. This is what targeted coaching is all about; it is about positioning yourself as an expert in a certain area, rather than becoming a generalist coach. You don’t need to be reminded that people always want to work with specialists when they have a problem or a goal to achieve, and they are also willing to pay good money for an expert’s opinion. So you can also be recognised as a specialist and be hired by clients if you know how to distinguish yourself by the value and the results you deliver to a targeted clientele.

Just because you target a specific market does not mean you will not have clients from other areas. Your results and your expertise will recommend you to other clients, who will also want to work with you, who will come to you to solve their problems.

Use strategies that fit your style

This is what I have said before. You must find the strategies which suit you best, and then you can combine them with techniques which have proven effective before. You must use all your skills, talents and abilities to the fullest extent to create the strategies which will be effective for you, and for your clients too, because they should be the beneficiaries of your work.

I’m sure you have a long list of ideas you could use. You cannot try all of them; that is a waste of time and money. Try to make a short list of your best ideas and implement them one at a time. Be coherent in what you do, because you cannot afford to send the wrong message to your clients! They need to see that you have a well-structured plan and you know exactly what to do every step of the way.

No matter what strategy you decide to use, always remember to choose the one that works for you and helps you develop your coaching business, which is to attract more clients and increase your revenue.
