Comparison Guide: Colloidal Oatmeal Lotions

Throughout the winter months, we all need a good body lotion to help hydrate and protect our skin from the dry air. Some of the best body lotions to use throughout the winter months are ones made with colloidal oatmeal. Colloidal oatmeal is a natural moisturizer that helps protect and nourish the skin naturally. However, choosing the right colloidal body lotion can be difficult with all the different ones out there on the market, which is why this comparison guide will help you find the best colloidal oatmeal lotion for your skin.

Nature’s Gate Colloidal Oatmeal Moisturizing Lotion

The Nature’s Gate Colloidal Oatmeal Moisturizing Lotion is a natural body lotion made with natural ingredients like herbal extracts, aloe, colloidal oatmeal, essential oils, sunflower seed oil, safflower seed oil, vitamins and minerals. This colloidal body lotion comes in an 18-ounce bottle with a hand pump and cost around $10. In addition, this lotion is fragrance free, which makes it perfect for sensitive skin types like yours and mine. The lotion inside the bottle is creamy white with a bit of thickness, but it is not greasy, heavy or tacky feeling on the skin once it is applied. This lotion is super hydrating and you only need to apply it once a day. The best way I find to apply this body lotion is by taking small handfuls of it and massaging it into the skin gently until it has absorbed. This colloidal lotion is perfect for maintaining healthy skin healthy and for repairing damaged dried out skin.

Suave Natural Oatmeal Moisturizer

Now if you have healthy skin already and looking for an affordable way to help maintain healthy skin throughout the dry winter months you might want to use Suave Natural Oatmeal Moisturizer. This body lotion comes in an 18 fluid ounce bottle and cost between $3 and $5 depending on where you get it. I use this moisturizer when my skin is still soft, but could benefit from a little bit of moisture and protection just to help keep it soft and glowing. This colloidal oatmeal body lotion is made from minerals, petrolatum and colloidal oatmeal. This body lotion is not as natural as the Nature’s Gate Colloidal Oatmeal Moisturizing Lotion or as hydrating, but it works well as I said for maintaining healthy skin. This colloidal lotion is thin and creamy in texture with a whitish appearance and no fragrance. The best time I find to apply this lotion is right after a warm bath because it absorbs into healthy skin better this way. Once the lotion is on skin becomes soft without feeling greasy or oily. However, you do have to apply this body lotion twice throughout the day.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

If you are looking for an excellent natural colloidal body lotion for all skin types, the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion is perfect to use. It is by far my favorite colloidal lotion out of all colloidal lotions out on the market. This lotion is made from colloidal oats, minerals, glycerin, dimethicone and petrolatum. The body lotion comes in a 12-ounce bottle and cost between $7 and $10 depending on where you get it. I got mine from my local grocery store in the skin care isle. This colloidal lotion has a creamy oat color appearance and a rich creamy texture. You can apply the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion to the skin whenever you feel your skin needs hydrating and nourishing. I typically use this body lotion after a shower because my skin is warm and this body lotion melts into my warm skin nicely leaving it feeling soft and well hydrated. This body lotion is a bit heavy, but it is not greasy or sticky feeling at all. It simply leaves skin soft for up to 24 hours and really protects it from the dry air well. In addition, it is free from fragrances, which makes it perfect for sensitive skin types.

St. Ives Naturally Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter Lotion

The St. Ives Naturally Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter Lotion is wonderful to use on all skin types. It is a lighter moisturizer and comes in an 18-ounce bottle. The lotion is made from natural colloidal oats, shea butter, cocoa butter, aloe and vitamins. This lotion has a creamy whitish appearance and a silky smooth light texture that is moisturizing, but not greasy or heavy. I use this body lotion daily for shaving my legs and simply softening up my skin. However, I do find myself applying this body lotion often and it does have a sweet oatmeal fragrance to it where as the other colloidal lotions that I mentioned in the guide are fragrance free. This body lotion is affordable and cost between $3 and $5 dollars depending on the store you get it at, but I usually get my bottle at the drug store.

Well, this comparison guide should give you enough ideas on some of the colloidal lotions to choose from on the market. I wish you all the very best with keeping your skin healthy, soft and glowing throughout the winter months.
