Baby Shower Building Block Cake

It’s fun to host and attend assorted birthday parties, weddings, holidays, and other special parties throughout the year but, sometimes, you just don’t want to go through all of that hassle. It can wear a person out having to send out invites, get the place all decorated, prepare party favors and make special foods. Every once in awhile, you just like to have a fabulous party without all the effort, right? So, the latest baby shower approaches and it’s on you to get everything ready. Let’s tackle the cake first. Actually, a spectacular baby shower cake is not at all hard to make and you won’t even have to turn on the oven. Make a building block cake and you’ll enjoy all the accolades while your guests enjoy the scrumptious cake.

Little Debbie snack cakes – or similar snack cakes – make it easy to create a building block cake that looks spectacular. The small cakes are good but the company who makes them goes pretty skimpy with the frosting. Add more frosting, and some cute and adorable accents, and you’ll have a breathtaking cake that looks like a professional made it.

Use square cakes which come two in a pack. You’ll get 5 or so packs to a box. Open the pack, spread a bit of frosting on top of one cake, then stack the second cake on top of it. Frost the two cakes and smooth the frosting across the top and four sides. Make as many of these block cakes as needed to feed the amount of guests you’re expecting. Arrange the cakes so that they are also in a block shape, like three rows of 3, four rows of 4, and so forth.

Use tube frosting or pipe on frosting from a bag to make various blocks. Make an “A” on one block, a “B” on another, and so on. Between those, make simplistic drawings or make blocks with numbers on them. Create a design on top of each block as well as on the sides of the blocks which go around the perimeter. Outline around the top of each cake, and around each side of each cake, to further embellish the blocks.

The building block baby shower cake is a beautiful cake, indeed, and when you use snack cakes to make it, you create it quickly. The guests will think you slaved all day.
