More Answers to "what is niacin and what is it used for?"
Niacin is vitamin B3 or nicotinic acid. It is used as a drug (also called Niaspan, I believe) to help elevate low HDL levels (the good cholesterol). It also has a small effect at lowering LDL levels (the bad cholesterol). In high doses, it can cause some flushing...red blotches on your body.
Niacin is a tipe of vitamin B, it participates on generating energy, it also participates on the nervous sistem, and in skin, if there is a lack of this vitamin you get tired, you can haver mouth ulcers, skin problems, and digestive and nervous problems.
