Q: I get it usually after I eat pasta such as spaggetti noodles or ramen. how do i fix it? what should i do to get back to nromal like everyone else who has no problem eating it? Explain why if possible.
A: The most likely causes are either Celiac Disease (CD), Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), gallbladder disease or pancreatic insufficiency.CD is an autoimmune disease caused by an allergic reaction to the proteins in wheat, rye and barley called glutens/gliadins. One of the most common symptoms is diarrhea. This disease is common, but it is rarely diagnosed by medical doctors (probably because it is a nutritional disorder – something they still have very little training in).SIBO is excessive growth of bacteria in the small intestine. The bacteria can digest some of your food quickly – leading to sudden and often severe diarrhea 15 to 30 minutes after eating. SIBO is usually caused by the use of acid-inhibiting drugs such as Nexium and Prilosec.Gallbladder disease can range from ‘malfunction’ to stones. It often leads to diarrhea.Pancreatic insufficiency is a decrease in the production, release or passage (e.g. a gallstone can block the passage of pancreatic fluids into the gut) of digestive enzymes into the digestive tract. It can also lead to diarrhea.Your reaction to pasta, noodles, etc. suggests that Celiac Disease and/or SIBO may be likely causes of your diarrhea.Best wishes and good luck.
