Q: I’m a 15 year old female and have been sick for the past 1 1/2 years but have had stomach problems for 5 years now. I have went through every blood, urine, and stool test imaginable, endoscopy/colonoscopy, abdominal ct, upper gi, and most recently a sweat chloride test. I’m supposed to be going through a capsule endoscopy soon, and be getting the rest of my test results back (few blood and stool).I tested positive for antibodies for Chron’s, back when the inflammation in my stomach and colon were biopsied the results came back inconclusive. Right after the procedure my GI doc started me on prednisone back has now weaned me off because he is not sure if I have Chron’s now. Is it still possible that I have Crohn’s?I also tested high borderline on my sweat test and on the repeat my level was 59 (60 is positive) and am waiting for my blood test results to see if I have cystic fibrosis. The doctors are giving up and classifying me as having an eating disorder, but I love food, am not afraid of it, and want to gain weight. What is wrong with me?????Here are my symptoms ~* Nausea* Extremely severe sharp stabbing constant stomach pain* Diarrhea* Night fevers* Headaches in the morning* Fatigue* Indigestion and GERD* Unintentional weight loss (went from 120lbs to 85lbs at 5’8″ in about 4 months)* Back and joint pain in knees and hipsI have been lactose intolerant for 5 years now.My parents have Kaiser insurance so I am unfortunatly limited to Kaiser doctors. Also I am on an over 4,000 calorie diet (which consists of 10 carnation instant breakfast 375 cal. shakes plus food) and am still losing a little weight! I gained on the ng tube but lost it once they put me back on oral.
A: The inability to keep weight would be my chief focus… To commit to a Crohn’s diagnosis I would be more comfortable if there was blood reported in the diarrhea every so often. Though I have to say, outside of the negative biopsy, the symptoms match pretty well, since Crohns can manifest anywhere in the digestive tract. I hope that this latest test yields a diagnosis for you. Predisone is not without its problems but will help a Crohns diagnosis.

A: hi sorry to hear ur not well. my daughter has had crohns since 12 she is now 25, it took 6 months to diagnose her but it was found in biopsies they took in a colonoscopy. by the time she was diagnosed she was unable to eat anything except chocoalte and fizzy drinks as every time she put food in her mouth she felt full. if u have inflammation associated with crohns the prednisolone should have stopped it my daughter had many courses of prednisolone but now has an infliximab iv infusion every 8 weeks which is keeping it at bay. . have u been tested for coeliac as the symptoms sound like they could be that i have a friend with it and she described yr symptoms i do hope that they doctors do not diagnose an eating disorder and that they get to the bottom of the problem for u. good luck.
