My anxiety causing horrible physical pain? Help, please?
Q: I have anxiety pretty bad, and I don’t know what I should do about it? Well, It’s gotten so bad, that I won’t even have to be anxious about anything at all and I’ll start gagging horribly. I’m a smoker, addicted to cigarettes , but DON’T TELL ME TO STOP, we’re not getting into that, but if it’s cold outside and I step out to smoke, after 4-6 hits, I start gagging out of nowhere and I won’t even feel really that ill to my stomach. I also have this problem now, I think it’s called “precordial catch syndrome”? I’ll just be sitting down, minding my own business, when I get this killing pain in my chest on the left side under my breast and I have to completely stop breathing because the pain is horrible. I started taking Hydroxyzine for the anxiety and it helped with my physical problems a little bit, but then my body grew used to it and it stopped working. TMI, I know, but not long before I started taking the medication, I would have bad stomach problems to the point that every time I ate something, I had diarrhea afterwards and cramping. I had my gall bladder checked out through a ultra sound, and everything was normal, they also checked my kidneys, spleen, and stuff while they were at it. And my body is odd, I can’t take over-the-counter medications, they never work, trust me, I’ve tried them all. Another thing, I’ll notice my heart will beat normal, then all of a sudden it will beat extremely hard and back to normal, again. I’ve had anxiety attacks before to the point I can’t breathe well, I’d shake so terribly, and my heart beat will be beating too fast. Sometimes, I have my boyfriend every now and then listen to my heartbeat for no reason when I’m only a little bit anxious, but not much at all, and it’ll be pounding like I just ran past several houses even when I don’t move at all. Should I see a doctor for this? And what type of medications do you think will work? OHH, and by the way, I’m 15 years old going on 16. Don’t bring up the smoking, it has nothing to do with it, I’ve been smoking since 11. And don’t be judge-mental. I hate to hear people complaining that I smoke.Smoking actually helps with my nerves, it does actually calm me down, it’s just when I’m in the cold and I’m smoking it makes me gag. Of course if I wake up early and go somewhere, it makes me sick. I had to quit public schooling and join home schooling cause of the stomach problems.

does anxiety or Depression cause a physical pain?
Q: I have been having a body aches like as if I have fever or virus. I went to see two board certified MD, and both told me I am fine. One said I need to be on a different med for depression. I have been on Klonopin and Deplin. Before I was on Paxil instead of Deplin. The meds were prescribed by my Psychiatrist after he had put me through all kind of meds, he finally put me on Deplin. FDA says it treat Anemia. I do not have Anemia. I called back the psych doctor but he told me stay on it. I have been suffering from a seasonal allergy/sinus infection but infection is long gone, and on 3 types of allergy meds, I feel light headed, popping ears, but body aches are not typical of allergy symptom. I am so confused and I am still aching. What should I do? I do not like PILLS and Paxil made me gain weight. I did not like anything else I’ve tried with all the side effect such as dry mouth and drowsiness, additive. etc.
A: I am reading this letter from you and it sounds like everything I have gone threw but I didnt go on no drugs. I have to go to Novia Scotia to enviromental place because they think I have multiple chemical allergies. Look it up on the computer because you will be very surprised that all your symptoms are in there . Most doctors dont believe in it they will say you are depressed but your body is telling you other wise. That is a reason to have anxiety or depression because they are treating you for the wrong thing. Please do this or you may never know whats wrong. sincerely jean
What physical symptoms has stress caused you?
Q: I suffer from a lot of anxiety, stress, and panic attacks. I am very familiar with the headaches, stomach ailments, and tension that can be caused by these. But lately I have SO MANY other health issues going on. It is at the same time that I’ve been faced with the worst stress of my life. I have been dealing with a stalker and feel like I can never relax. Although the court issued a restraining order protecting me, the feeling just doesn’t go away. I am unhappy living there now and therefore working as well, because the stalker would bother me at my workplace. I am not happy with my relationship and just have a ton of stress in my life. I’m used to the usual stuff but lately I feel sick head to toe! I am wondering what kind of physical problems others have gotten from stress? I have severe chest pain, shortness of breath, sore throats, earaches, toothaches, joint pain, fatigue, crying spells, nausea, insomnia, you name it. I am starting to worry about my health – that maybe I have a real disease or something scary going on. Any words of wisdom? 🙁
A: Whenever I have suffered due to severe stress in my life I have had several symptoms. The main ones that are different than the ones that you mentioned are for one an itch that would move to another spot on my body every time that I scratched it, I could never satisfy the itch. Another one was my head would start to itch all of the time, then my hair would fall out in large strands, and I would go bald on both sides of my temple area. Then I started having sharp pains in my rectum, like someone had shoved a large butcher knife in. I was having diarrhea, and constipation with severe pain in my abdomen. I thought that I had colon, or rectal cancer, and was terrified at the prospect. I had all kinds of tests done, and they said it was IBS.Funny though when my teen-aged daughter who was causing most of the stress in the household moved out, it wasn’t long before most of the symptoms improved immensely. I still have IBS symptoms but they are mild now.Stress can be very serious when it is severe and never ending as yours is. Stress kills by making people physically ill, as well as mentally ill in the long run. You end up thinking that you are losing your mind. Please see a psychologist who can prescribe you something to help you relax and handle the stress better. It wouldn’t hurt to get a physical while you are at it.I would also recommend a total change in your life. You hate your job, your home, and your relationship. You are made to walk on eggshells while also feeling like a victim, and you have done nothing wrong to deserve being stalked by some creep. Why not make a complete life change and move away. Start over fresh somewhere that the stalker has no idea where you are, get a new job, home, and relationship. It will be fantastically freeing, and will take the weight of the world off your shoulders. I guarantee you that most, if not all of your symptoms will improve or disappear altogether.
