Upper Right Abdominal Pain?
Q: OK-First off–I AM GOING TO A DOCTOR on Monday—so all of you that are just looking to be a smart @$$, just push on…Back to my question. I woke up yesterday with pretty bad pain in my right upper abdomen. I thought my Great Dane may have kicked me or maybe I somehow could have strained a muscle in my stomach…just to be sure I researched appendicitis, and I don’t have any of the symptoms ( I know a lot of times there aren’t any….just going by what was listed), and besides that is usually the lower right side. So, I looked up gallstones, and I don’t have any pain in my back, and my pain is constant rather than intermittent like those symptoms….so today it is A LOT worse……..hurts to walk, breathe, basically hurts to live….it is tender when I touch it, there is no swelling, and the only way to relieve it is to slouch when I sit…….I have an appointment Mon, but am wondering if I am just wasting my money—-could it be simple? PS—I can withstand pain, and this is BADTo the first girl that answered—obviously YOU CAN’T READ—-anyway…snowman…I am hoping it isn’t anything to do with my liver—-had some health complications a year ago that could have damaged it, but the doc said everything was fine…..so, I will look into it…thanksHate to keep adding things….someone mentioned kidney stones—had that with part of my health complication….feels NOTHING like it—-that was a pain in the lower back..
A: I had this same problem about 2 years ago, I went to the emergency room because of the pain, they told me I probably had gall stones or a gall bladder problem, they reffered me to a gastrointestional doctor, which also lead to another dead end; I ended up going to my family doctor a couple weeks later to find out I had a hiatial-hernia which required immediate surgery, I hope this is not your problem, as it took me almost 6 months to recover!!!!!! I wish you the best!
Does this sound like ibs, or something else? Please help!?
Q: I’m 14 (female) and I just went to a ped. gi doc on tuesday, and he checked me out and is running a few blood/stool tests (still no results) on me and said I probably just had ibs and there was no treatment, besides what I am already getting. My symptoms are:*Severe nausea/loss of appetite*Abdominal pain (severe) only relived sometimes for a short time after a bowel movement, otherwise constant.*Bloating/pressure in upper stomach after eating*Night fevers/shakiness which causes fatigue*No period for a year*Over 20lb weight loss in about 2 months or less (currently 5’8″ and 95lbs and was 5’8″ and 120lbs)What I find extremely strange is that he blamed it on my past anxiety and stress, which I have finally overcome externally and internally, so I haven’t had any type of anxiety in months. which i love!!!At the time I saw him I had diarrhea, but as soon as I stopped chewing the sugar free gum like 12 times a day it stopped, now my stools are completely normal. These symptoms have been happening for years off and on but no have become intense in the last few weeks, to the point where I can’t stand it. Diabetes, Hyperthyroidism, Appendicitis, Stomach Virus, Food Allergies, Celiac Disease, Anemia, Eating Disorder, Pregnancy, and Stress and Anxiety as the cause have all been eliminated. I already have acid reflex.Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks! Happy Holidays!
A: its true – it PROBABLY is IBS.. but if it isn’t it could be one of several things; some very very serious. If you’re not comfy with what your doctor tells you, see another doctor.

A: I don’t want to freak you out, but you may want to have your doc check for Ovarian Cancer. The symptoms are: Pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort· Vague but persistent gastrointestinal upsets such as gas, nausea, and indigestion · Frequency and/or urgency of urination in the absence of an infection· Unexplained weight gain or weight loss· Pelvic and/or abdominal swelling, bloating and/or feeling of fullness· Ongoing unusual fatigue· Unexplained changes in bowel habitsYou just want to be safe. The test they can run is the CA-125 test. Good luck with everything.
