Could this be an ectopic pregnancy?
Q: Alright, this one’s a little tricky:So I had a baby, and six weeks later I started taking Errin (a mini-pill oral contraceptive.) One of the risks is ectopic pregnancy. About 2 days into taking it, I had severe headaches, but the doctor that prescribed it said that it was probably the heat causing it. I was told to increase my fluids, and call back if it was still there after a week. It disappeared after about 3 days, so I continued the drug. Then about six weeks into taking it, I felt a numbness in my right hand. I called back, and the doctor’s suspicion was that because I had just started working again the day before, I had pinched a nerve in my neck from the backpack-like vacuum cleaner I had been using for quite a while, and that was causing the numbness. She said just to be safe, to stop taking it and call back in two weeks. I did so, and we both believe she was right about the pinched nerve. She said to start taking a new pack on sunday. (BTW, I had very mild pain on the RIGHT side of my abdomen, but I think it may have just been muscular, plus I had to pee all the freaking time. I took a pregnancy test just before starting up the pill again, just to play it safe, and it was negative) I started up the pill as instructed, and the next day about midway through the day, I had bad cramping, almost like mild contractions, or severe menstrual cramps. I also had pain on the LEFT side of my lower back, and pain while urinating, and near the end of the day, very very light bleeding after urinating. The next day, I just had the lower back pain, and extremely mild pain while urinating. Now today (the day after that), I have the same lower pack pain and mild pain while urinating, but it’s on the RIGHT side this time! Parts of this sound like ectopic pregnancy (light bleeding, frequent/painful urination, bad abdominal pain, lower back pain on one side) and parts of it don’t (the fact that I am in less pain than before, and ectopic pregnancy doesn’t seem like the type of thing to get better, plus the pain is on another side now, which wouldn’t make sense, and an ectopic pregnancy would just be on one side, right?)Could this be ectopic pregnancy, or – since I had just taken the first pill in the pack just 16 hours before the sudden onset of pain – could my body have taken the start of the pill a little roughly? And if anyone wants to know, I was taking the pill perfectly; always within the same ten minutes every day. I waited two weeks after initially starting the pill before me and my husband went without a condom, and I hadn’t had intercourse for 5 days when I stopped taking it, and we used condoms the entire time I was off the pill. Plus, I am nursing, so the likelihood of any sort of pregnancy seems rather small to me. I’m fairly sure it’s just an adverse reaction to starting the pill up again, but because some symptoms are similar to the signs of ectopic pregnancy, I can’t deny I’m a little worried, particularly due to the severity on one’s health of an ectopic pregnancy.
A: I am going through my 3rd ectopic and they do not cause severe pain right away, in fact I only had pain with mine when my first one ruptured. They can act like a normal pregnancy. My first ectopic ruptured, I didn’t know I was pregnant. I woke up one day sicker than a dog, in severe pain and weak. I was bleeding badly, went into shock and had internal bleeding from the ruptured tube. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance to have emergency surgery done. My 2nd started off as a normal pregnancy, had all the symptoms and everything..then I started spotting brown, which then turned to red blood, and I had an ultrasound done which showed it being ectopic, I was treated with shots of methotrexate to end the pregnancy…I didn’t have pains until after I was given the shots of Methotrexate. Have you done a home pregnancy test? You will test positive even with an ectopic
I’m 9 days late after taking Plan B and experiencing these symptoms. Worried about an ectopic pregnancy.?
Q: I just re read the instructions and consumer information for Plan B and it says that it does not bring on your period, only spotting up to a few days. I had originally thought that the bleeding I experienced a week after taking the pill was my period. I took it almost a month ago and am now 9 days late. I’ve been cramping ever since the spotting and last week for three days I couldn’t even walk around the house I was so dizzy and out of balance. Its now three weeks after taking Plan B and I’m experiencing sore breasts, headaches, cramps, random nausea, and frequent urination. Today I started having severe lower abdominal pain (like stabbing) limited to my left side. Its only happened a few times when I stand up or move a certain way. Theres still a dull ache from time to time in the same area. I’m really worried that I might have an ectopic pregnancy. I took a test this past thursday and got a faint positive but another taken later showed negative. What should I do? I just recently lost my health insurance and it costs $90 for a doctors visit without any lab testing. Where can I go to get this checked out? And does it sound like i’m pregnant or i’m just having really late symptoms from the pill?
A: well that doesn’t sound normal at all so you definitely need to go to a doctor. Try finding a clinic so they can help you.
if one positive hpt followed by three negative hpt but pregnancy symptoms increased,am i pregnant?
Q: my last period was 22nd jan 2009. scan on 3 march, doctor can’t find anything. maybe too early?people say ectopic, but no severe abdominal pain. miscarriage but no bleeding plus my pregnancy symptoms in creased.this week,my boobs start feeling heavy and sensitive nipples, also frequent pee and always in hunger. what do you think?i thought in miscarriage, the symptoms was suppose to fade away?
A: well when was the positive test? what brand was it?were the negatives the same brand?it doesnt sound good to me hon but scans cant show pregnancies that are very early.ectopic – they need to do a blood hcg coun to rule that out. have they done that?hunger and sore breasts are signs of pms too not just pregnancy. really hon get a blood hcg test to tell you if you are pregnant or not.how far along would you be if you are?
