- Q: A few years ago I went to the dermatologist for these bumps that i had all over my upper arms and thighs. They were ugly and looked like pimples, i don't remember the correct term for the condition that he diagnosed me with just that the condition was caused from the way my hair follices grew on my body and he prescribed me ammonium lactate lotion, which helped alot and dried those suckers up lol but now after using that lotion for years i have dry patches where I apply it the most. Not dry flaky skin but like dry patches of skin that almost look like goosebumps. I have tried using lotions like vitamin e, cocoa butter, & cetaphil lotion. I apply it right after I shower , and then using the ammonium lactate before I go to bed. But nothing will work for the dry skin, and I can't stop using the medicated lotion or my first problem will come back. Does anybody know what Im talking about? Can anybody please tell me how to treat this probelm?
- A: Honestly, you should ask your doctor. You may need a stronger lotion than what is provided over the counter. Also, you never know when a particular ingredient may interact with the medicated lotion you're using and either cause a reaction or reduce the efficiency of the medicated cream. Best to be safe.
