I need a veterinarian’s help for my cat urine issue?
Q: Sorry if this is kind of long but I want to get the important details in there. 3 weeks ago my bf and I picked up a stray cat. She is a young female. I can’t find a scar showing she is fixed so i don’t think she is. she has fleas and possible worms. I’ve given her 2 flea baths and just discovered a worm on the towel I was drying her with yesterday so I haven’t been able to address that problem yet. checking her feces, I don’t see any in them, I can’t see any fleas on her but I found one on me the other day, (reason for the second bath) so I don’t think it is as bad as it could be. I’m telling you this because I don’t know how fleas or worms affect a cat’s stress level or urinary tract. Right away she knew how to use the litter box. The first incident was on my bed just under a week after we got her. My father and brother were visiting that week and I had spent the day out with them. Since then, I have washed blankets that I find smelling like urine and found that when I’m doing laundry, that smells like urine sometimes too. I have caught her in the act once in my dirty laundry basket, twice on my bed, and once on a blanket. I’ve noticed that it is always in clothing or bedding, so I thought it might be the smell of laundry detergent. And it is always after I returned from a long absence ( a few hours) so I thought maybe she was mad at me. I don’t know if she ever had a home (she was skin and bone when we found her) So maybe she has abandonment issues? Here is one thing that happened yesterday, I walked into my bedroom to find her popping a squat in my blankets and then trying to bury. I showed her the litter box and she hasn’t been allowed in my room since, (resulting in her being alone for the night, or a long absense from me) So I got up this morning was making my coffee, and right next to me my boyfriend haphazardly left a blanket crumpled on the kitchen floor last night. she peed on the blanket and stared at me while she did it! I showed her the litter box again and this time locked her in the bathroom with it for a few minutes. She pooped in the box while she was in there which is always nice but she never poops anywhere else in the house. Her litter box is kept in the bathroom, so she has privacy, I scoop it a few times a day and change the litter a few times a week. She has enough litter to bury her business but not so much that it’s over flowing. I use unscented litter liners for an easier clean up for me and smells won’t linger really in the box for her. she does pee in her litter box, but she pees other places too. Her food dish is in the kitchen, far away from her box. I’ve placed food dishes near the laundry and bed because I read this helps them learn that it is not a place where you “go.” I know that cats don’t like to go where they eat and eat where they go. I know that she needs to go to the vet for all the normal stuff, getting fixed, shots etc. I plan on making an appt. this week but in the mean time i don’t know what to do.she is gaining weight, I don’t know if that is just because she has food all the time or because she is pregnant. Like I said we’ve only had her for 3 weeks and I’ve been watching her belly. Any other signs to watch out for? does a pregnant cat have to pee more often? If this doesn’t get under control fast, my boyfriend said we will have to get rid of her. It’s not that he is being mean, we aren’t supposed to have pets as it is (i begged him) I love my little kitty and I don’t know what to do. We have no other pets besides a lizard whom she pays no attention too.thanks for the great answers. Kira, I’m very sorry to hear about your kitty. My best friend disappeared almost 2 years ago and I miss him everyday. (he was a cat) She is orange and I named her pumpkin. I would never throw her back out onto the street, if we got rid of her, we would find her a home. when I bring her to the vet I’m going to ask them about checking for a micro chip. I know how sad it made me and still makes me not knowing what became of my little friend and wouldn’t want to put some else through that. I’ve had many cats that I have always litter trained myself from very small kittens. I can tell she is young but may have habbits to break which I am new to. I’m also not normally one for getting rid of a cat for a problem which is probably not her fault but like I said, we aren’t even supposed to have her. Thanks trouble and JC for your helpful answers. Yes, I recently learned that you can spay a pregnant cat. At first I thought it was awful but after some thought, it is the best thing to do. I will be calling the vet either today or monday, (not sure of their hours) to get everything settled. I’ll pick up some of that nature’s miracle this weekend too.
A: While I am not a veterinarian, I have had lots of experience with cats who have peed outside the box, and on furniture, carpets and beds. There are several reasons why your cat may be behaving in this way. Cats are very fastidious about their “toilet” habits, so if they are behaving in this way, there is either an emotional reason, or a medical problem that must be addressed. Perhaps her former owner, if she had one, threw her out in the street because she was peeing outside the box, and did not bother to have her checked out with a veterinarian. She could have a urinary tract infection. She could have bladder stones that are very painful, and makes her want to pee far more freguently. I have had lots of pregnant cats, since I am a former CFA registered breeder, and none of my cats behaved in this manner. She is only with you for a short time as well, and could be anxious as well.Since you have observed worms, there is a need to take her to the vet anyway since you need to know what kind of parasites she is harboring to get the right medication to get rid of them. Your vet will be able to get a urine sample, and take a blood test to more accurately be able to diagnose what is going on with her. You can also get the proper flea control medication for her from the vet at the same time.Since you are feeding her and taking care of her, she is going to put on weight which is a good thing. Watch however not to over feed as you don’t want her to become obese. Please take her to the vet. Even if I were a vet answering your question, I could only hazzard a guess. I would have to examine her to reach an accurate diagnosis.Good luck with your kitty. If it is anxiety your vet can give you medication that will control this. We have a cat that is on medication just for this purpose. He is no longer peeing outside the box, and has relaxed tremendously.TroublesnifferOwned by cats for over 40 years
i have an itchy vagina but there’s no smell, discharge, or anything… what might it be?
Q: I have an itchy vagina, but no smell, discharge, or any other pain/itching.. what might it be?THERE IS A POINT TO THIS!!! i’m sorry there’s a tid bit of reading to fully understand what’s going on.okay so, it’s saturday. my boyfriend and i broke up/decided to take a break last sunday evening. monday, he had sex with another girl and then lied about it (i didn’t find out the truth until today). without knowing this, i went over to his place to talk to him about what’s going on between us. we talked for a while and whatnot and then i ended up spending the night that night… and the next night..we had unprotected sex (i know, stupid. stupid. stupid.) both nights. and then the other day i noticed my vagina was unusually itchy. this continued for the last couple of days. there’s no soreness, no burning, no vaginal discharge, no cloudy urine, no smell, no swollen-ness of the vulva or anything..it’s not crabs because 1) i don’t see any of them (i’m trimmed pretty well) 2) i talked to him about the chick and he said that she said she’s clean (she’s also already pregnant so i guess she was already tested) and 3) he’s not showing any signs of crabs, irritation or any kind of problems since then.it’s just the entrance of my vagina that’s bothering me.i’ve been using vagisil to stop the itchy but it only works until it wears off. then it starts to bother me again. i don’t know if it’s a yeast infection or mild irritation or possibly an std…help?it’s not hairs growing back, i know what that feels like. and it’s not dirty, i take showers every day and make sure to always wipe from to back and to not touch my vagina with dirty hands.it’s like the entrance of my vagina that itches. it’s not the vulva (lips, clitoris, and the surrounding area), but my actual vagina between the labia/lips.
A: Could it be that you have shaved it just a few days ago and the hairs are now starting to grow?
