Honestly…a period while pregnant..?

Q: I’m worried that I’m pregnant..but I’m still getting a light period. Not to get graphic here, but back in April I had slept with a guy, we didn’t use protection, and he actually came in me, the first time a guy has done that w/out me being on the pill. So now it’s August, 4 months later, still getting my period, still getting negative pregnancy tests, although I took a test a week ago and it showed a VERY faint line. What kinda scares me though is that I’m a thin girl, don’t eat all that much, but my stomach is starting to stick out right below my belly button. I used to be able to suck in, but now I can’t! Also, since I’m not too sure if I am pregnant I drink alcohol here and there, and whenever I do, I get sick the next day (not usual for me) and I get lower cramps and backache. Is that a sign that I could be pregnant and I’m potentially harming the baby? I hope that’s not the case!!! But still I don’t know for sure if I’m pregnant or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!Also..if my HCG levels are low..then how far along will it show up that I am pregnant, like on a test?

A: I would take another test, but I’m sorry to say that there is a good chance you may be pregnant if there was a faint line. It doesn’t really matter how faint the line is, if there is a line that means you have the pregnancy hormone. The only reason it would be false is if you are taking certain fertility drugs. I would act as if you are pregnant up until you take another pregnancy test which means I would hold off on alcohol and any other harmful substances. Give it a couple days so that if you are pregnant the hormones will build up to give you a brighter line. You can still have a period during pregnancy, usually it is light, but it happens every once in awhile when someone doesn’t realize they are pregnant because of the regular period. I would probably go see a doctor too, you can go to a clinic and get checked if you are worried about money for now or if you don’t want everyone to know there is a possiblity of pregnancy. If you are pregnant, let your doctor know, but many people drink not knowing their pregnant and their babies turn out ok. There could be problems so I wouldn’t continue drinking, but if you let your provider know they can check things out and put your mind at ease. They are used to hearing similar things and so they will be happier that you are sharing this information than if you kept it hidden. Plus it will help you not to worry as much.

Q: I have never in my life missed a period; the first time was when I realized I was pregnant. I had lower back aches and cramps, the whole nine yards, but no period. I took a test and it was positive and now I have a 1 year old.So, now one year later I missed a period on Aug. 4 (so it has been 7 days since then) and still NO period, not even a drop of blood. I have the same symptoms from when I had my first missed period due to pregnancy: back aches, stomache cramps, but no blood. My breasts are sore (i know this can be a sing of your period but for me personally, I have never had that symptom) My ankles are swollen…my stomache is getting bigger than the rest of me….etc.SO…. I took two dollar tree preg. tests; one in the morning one at night. they both were negative.I truly feel like im pregnant! I swear I feel kicks…I’ve been feeling them since 2-3 weeks ago before the possibility of pregnancy even entered my mind. Im having so many symptoms of pregnancy that are just not normal for me.What do you all think? Is 7 days after a missed period too soon to test on a dollar store preg. test?One more detail** I had Mirena inserted in Aug of 2008, and now, one year later, I have never had the strings checked and I have never checked them myself. A: ok first of all, I would defiently get a higher quality pregnancy test. The cheep ones will pick up the hormone.. but for a lot of people, they won’t pick up until you are a week or 2 late. (happened to me) Now the kick question. Since I had my son, I kept having what the doctor said were “pahontom kicks” where it seriously felt like the baby was kicking. She also told me that if I get pregnant with in 18 months of having my son, these phantom kicks may come back. It all has to do with your uterus changing. You feel them earlier with each pregnancy. Not all women get the pahntom kicks, but I still have them every now and then and I’m 6 months pp. (i had a c-section, but I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it or not) I bet that you are preggo and that is exactly what is happening to you! good luck!

Q: I had a brief relationship with a girl from Mexico. We had sex one time, and now 1 month later, she’s claiming she’s pregnant. We had partial unprotected sex, half on, half off. Spermicidal condom, and everything was outside.We met last night to talk about this. She says she’s pregnant and shows me a pregnancy test which shows positive. Also shows me paperwork from Planned Parenthood with some confirmation number on it. I don’t believe she is pregnant and if she is, i highly doubt it’s from me. My question is, can i verify this at Planned Parenthood? Or is there privacy concerns that prevent me from learning the true results?Secondly, last night she said she woudl consider abortion if i married her and got her a green card. I cannot believe she is this cold… she’s crying the whole time she doens’t want to do abortion because it’s wrong this and that. A: Have her take another test with you there. Then at least you will know for sure. As far as finding out if its yours you can deny it until the baby is born. You will have to take a DNA test and if that baby is yours you are responsible to help take care of it.
