I’ve heard such stories before. I recall an Oprah show with several women who claimed this happened. As many changes as a woman’s body goes through, I don’t know how any woman could NOT know! But, supposedly, some women can go through pre…

Well it does happen. I know a girl who thought she had appendicitis, went to the hospital, and came home with a baby! She was quite overweight though, so it would have been hard to visibly tell she was pregnant. However, this is my 2nd preg…

why is it that it’s so important to stay off your feet as much as possible pregnant?
Q: i mean i’m 35 weeks and well people always want me to stay off my feet and not do any lifting what so ever. so what i wanted to know is why?does it cause you to go into labour?i was just reading and it said that there is no evidence that being active while pregnant hurts the baby.thanks
A: Exercise is good for you. Walk all you want, stand all you want (unless the doctor says otherwise). Lifting reasonable weights shouldn’t be a problem either, IF you lift correctly. With extra weight in the front, your back can be stressed when you lift, so do the old “lift with your legs” thing.I bowled right up until the last week.If your feet tend to swell, put them up on a hassock or stool when you sit, feet higher than your hips.
Possible pregnant pup…Anyone who has experience in this please help me out.
Q: I recently rescued a puppy. Not from a shelter or anything like that, but from a woman who bred her dog, and decided to keep one of the puppy’s. I was looking to rescue a pound puppy, but I could tell this puppy was neglected and abused so I decided to take her. She’s very she and wary of anyone other than me…The puppy is 9 months old and when I asked the woman what heartworm and flea preventatives the pup was on, she said none. Then I asked her for her Vaccination records and she told me “her friend” had given her the first set of shots and she didn’t receive any other vaccines, and she didn’t have any vet records…Then she preceded to tell me her male dog “got a hold”of her and she may be pregnant, but she could take the dog to the vet and have the puppies “taken care of ” and she would pay for it….I told her no, just give me the dog the way she is and I would deal with the vet and all the bills. I took the pup (pixie) to the vet and had all her vaccines taken care of, had her tested for heartworm (negative thank god) and put her on a heartworm and flea program. Gave her a wormer, and all other necessities. Then talked to the vet about the possible pregnancy. She told me that they carry for about 9 weeks and they wouldn’t be able to tell if she was pregnant or not until about 6 weeks. Since I don’t know when this possible pregnancy thing happened, I don’t know how many weeks she would be. I’ve had her for 4 weeks now….I’ve never had to deal with a pregnant pup before, so I don’t know what to look for. So I guess my question…after my LONG story…would be, what should I be looking for? Is there any signs I should keep an eye out for? Also, I’m really worried about her being so young and having puppy’s. She’s a Daschund – Chihuahua mix weighing about 12 pounds, and according to this woman who had her, she was…um…mounted….by a smaller beagle. Is it possible to have a C-section for her to avoid any complications while giving birth? She’s a wonderful sweet baby girl and I love her to death! I don’t want anything bad to happen to her if it’s in any way avoidable. Anyway, thank you for reading my novel, and thank you in advance for taking the time to try and help me out. Thank you all for your help. I am definitely going to have her spayed, but my vet said to bring her back in a week (this thursday) to do an x-ray to see if she even is pregnant. I just don’t want anything happening BEFORE then and wanted to know what I should keep my eyes open for…It breaks my heart to think of killing the puppies, but if my little girl can’t safely deliver them, it’s what I will have to do. Also, money isn’t an issue if a c-section can be done safely..? And I ALWAYS get my babies from a shelter or my local humane society, but I couldn’t in good conscience leave this little girl in her terrible situation. I have my Husky that I got from my local human society. I’m anti-breeder/puppy mill. Don’t worry. :)Thanks again for all your help.
A: Sorry to hear about your pup. It actually wouldn’t have been bad to spay her earlier on in the pregnancy, especially since she is so young and so small. C-sections are most definitely possible, and one will likely be necessary if the dog she bred with was larger, AND since she’s probably not done growing. You need to talk to your vet about a possible c-section and set up a time frame for when you’ll need to take her in, since you don’t know the exact date she was impregnated. C-sections are also very expensive; make sure you have the funds. She also isn’t mentally matured yet, so there’s no telling how she will handle the whole thing. You need to be prepared to hand-raise these pups in case she rejects them. Hopefully her age will be no matter and she will already have great maternal instinct. In the future, please rescue a shelter dog instead of going through a bad breeder. Sure, all those BYB and pet shop puppies are suffering too, but when you get a pet store puppy — or a BYB puppy, which you have — you’re helping out unethical breeders.Add:Here’s a link you should read. You could also look for a book on dog pregnancy and whelping, and always be in close contact with your vet.http://www.qsl.net/w5www/breeding.htmlI also agree with some others, if it’s not too late to spay her now and abort the pups, that would be your best bet in saving her life. Not to mention the puppies….Deuce, you are the PERFECT example of an ignorant backyard breeder. Thanks for showing everyone what to avoid when buying a puppy.
