- Q: I have PCOS and my periods are few and far between. When I do have them, they are light-medium. I recently had a period (the first in 5 months) and it was light. Now, I’m having what seems like pregnancy symptoms, which is leaving me pretty confused. Now, I don’t know if what I had was in fact my period, or maybe I was spotting? Also, how long does spotting typically last for? I want to check other people’s opinions and such before I wasted $13 on a pregnancy test… Thanks for your help!

I went and took a pregnancy test the day after my missed period and that is when I found out that I was pregnant!A light period is usually red and pink in color, enough to use a pad. Usually spotting is brownish in color and only when you wipe. Hope this helps.

- Q: i just quit taking birth control (in pill form) in order to try to get pregnant. i took my last pill at the end of january, had a period and now, 3 weeks after i finished the pill (and only two after my period as it’s always come late while i was on the pill) i am bleeding.it’s not very much blood though. am i spotting or am i getting another period already? i know that coming off the pill can cause an unusual cycle or two but how do i know if this is spotting or a just a light period?thanks.
- A: spotting is dribbles in the undies and like a stain. just a patch, but sometimes it can be a quarter of what a period is, and that is a bit more blood than expected. period is defiantly heavy or decent enough to be irritating. spotting isn’t so messy. congrats for starting a family. good luck.
