what type of pain meds did your DR give you while pregnant?

Q: i have a stomach condition that causes EXTREME pain, and it only just started when i became pregnant. they thought it was gall bladder stones but its not. i have all the symptoms of gall stones, but when it happens i get a panic attack at the same time because of the pain it puts me in. they have given me morphine percoset and vicodin. they gave me the morphine when i was in the hospital and wrote me a prescription for the vicodin then a different prescription for percoset later on.i have taken the vicodin 2 or 3 times, then my mom gave me some tylenol 3 that she had. it didn’t work as ell for the pain but it was milder so i liked it better.. regular tylenol doesn’t effect the pain at all.my question is, if you ever had a health problem not directly related to pregnancy during your pregnancy, what type of medication did they give you?my DR says that the hardcore med’s are the only kind he wants to give me because its safer for the baby for some reason? i don’t know much about medicine and i don’t really like taking it unless i really HAVE to.im 32 weeks pregnantALSO:please don’t write “its selfish to take med’s for pain while pregnant” and that sort of thing. its worse for the baby when im not taking meds because i constantly throw up EVERYTHING, i cant breathe because of the pain and have black outs. its a very serious condition and until i find out what is going on i am going to continue to take the med’s when the symptoms start up.EDIT:my symptoms are in this orderDull chest pain starting in my solerplex going through to my back, upper back pain that radiates to my armsthe pain happens in contractions [not like uterus contractions, like muscle contractions in my upper back and upper abdominal area]violent vomiting, NON STOP until everything is out of my stomachei start seeing black dots, then everything turns black for a few moments, i can still hear and move but not see, and i am very dizzyi feel VERY hot like i have to take my clothes off and lay on the bathroom floor, or drink cold waterit hurts to inhale sharp chest pains and my heart beats very fastthen the symptoms slowly go away, they come on slowly and leave slowly but usually last about 30 min-1 hreach time this happens i go to the ER but once i am finally seen by a DR the fit is over and all that i have is upper back pain and a freaked out baby

A: Perhaps I can help-Well I was on complete bed-rest (couldn’t even get up to go to the bathroom) for 6 days while in the hospital. For a few of those days I was on a labor and delivery bed since they didn’t want to move me in fear of the clot breaking off and causing a PE. And those beds are hard as a rock, which cause great back pain and the clot was rather painful. So I got morphine injections for a few days. Then they switched me to a regular bed and gave me Vicodin for the rest of the hospital stay. And the whole time I was given sleeping pills at night.My baby was born fine, and I don’t think the drugs hurt her at all. I think it is prolonged use and abuse of these drugs that causes problems. Not the occasional use when you are in great pain.So I think if your doctor prescribes them, and you use it only occasionally then you shouldn’t worry about it at all.

Q: I will give you a list of things that have occured, and then based on that, give me your opinion on wheater you think I could be pregnant.- I am 23 years old, I hadn’t had my period for the past 2 years, so on October 10th I started taking medroxyprogesterone, prescribed by my doctor to start my cycle back up, i took one pill for 10 days and on October 19th I got my period.- my period was extremely heavy and painful and then it ended on October 29th- I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on November 1st or 2nd ( not sure) and we used the pull out method… * I know, Not fool proof.- I have noticed in the past week, I have had trouble sleeping through the night,and wake up to go to the bathroom, Never had problems with that before- My breasts feel really heavy and are kind of sore on the sides and under my armpit- I noticed a bit of spotting the last 2 days, very light pink color, started out as kinda brown.- Ive noticed more minor aches and pains lately-My nails and hair seem to be growing faster than usual-I picked up my towell I JUST washed and the smell of it nearly made me ill, like mildew or mold plus detergent, also noticed I’m smelling a lot more weird things and then when I say something no one else smells it-Im having a little bit of lower abdomen pain, kind of a tingly sensation ever once in awhile- I feel really bloated in my stomach-every so often I get kind of dizzy and feel faint-Im having problems sleeping but I am really tired- I’ve never had scares before of “thought” I was pregnant, I know some women freak themselves out often with this, but I never have, and i wouldnt want to. my intuition is just telling me something’s up.- Since it may be too early to take a home pregnancy test and get accurate results, I just thought I would get others opinions in the mean time.
