Leg cramps while pregnant?
Q: I’m 19 weeks pregnant, and the past few nights have had my left leg cramp up while asleep. Well last night, was terrible-it cramped up and literally I could not move my leg. My calf muscle became hard as a rock. My leg today is so tender and painful. Is this normal? I looked up in my “what to expect while expecting” book, and they tell you about having blood clots and all this other stuff, so now I’m worried something is wrong with me or the baby. Can someone please tell me if this is normal and if so, why you get them & what can I do to make them stop? Thanks!
A: Leg cramps can be caused by not getting enough calcium and potassium. Talk to your doctor about the cramping. Blood clots do not cause cramps. I got the worst charlie horse cramps when I was sleeping when I was pregnant. I had to avoid pointing my toes very far- I actually woke up screaming one time the cramp was so bad. You can stretch lightly before you go to bed and when you wake up.

Q: I’m not pregnant, but trying to figure out if i am…. When you start with the pregnancy, Do u have cramps? I’ve been having cramps for 6 days already maybe more sometimes its just light pain and sometimes it hurts like there is no 2morrow, especially after a sexual intercourse… I missed my period, i was suppost to get it 6 days ago and my breasts are sore for 5 days already but still no period… sometimes i get dizzy here and there the feeling of fainting, and for some reason I’m always hungry,,, i have taking a test but it came out negative( took it in the morning right when i woke up) so next week ill try to take it again if i still wont be getting my period.(my period is always on time(28 days)… so i got it on December 05th… and suppose to get it on January 2nd…. please if u can somehow help me out i’ll be very thank full….( i’m not in stress and im eating right)
A: Definitely test a day in a few days. Perhaps you ARE pregnant but the first test couldn’t detect the hCG because you were so “newly” pregnant. Or, you might not be – The discomfort can be due to stress. Either way, I would see a doctor. Good luck!
