What time of day is the best to take lexapro?
Q: okay, my dr told me to take lexapro in the morning but it makes me so tired and end up taking a nap to feel rested, i thought about just taking it at night around 7 or 8 is it better to take at night what do you think!
A: I called the pharmacy about this when I was put on Lexapro. He said that I may want to take it at night instead of in the mornings. It will take about two weeks to fully get into your system. If I forget to take it at night, I will take it in the morning, and now it doesn't make me tired. The answers you have received that I have read are wrong. It is not best to take it in the morning if you feel like that. The pharmacist even put on my prescription to take it at bedtime. So yes, you can take it at bedtime and it works the same. However, I would take it right before going to bed not earlier in the evening bc it makes me irritable for the first hour or so after taking it. The one who answered to take it in the morning bc the point of it is to make you feel better during the day is wrong. That would be correct with other types of medication, but with an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication, it works similar to birth control, it stays in your system no matter when you take it as long as you take it everyday. It will stay in your system for several days if you stop for any reason also. After those few days, you will fell AWFUL though, so do not stop taking it unless instructed by a doctor. This is when the medication makes some suicidal, which is why the warning is so intense on any anti-depressant. You are right, and I recommend doing so bc I have went through all of the right people to find out for sure.

When is the best time of day to take Lexapro? Does it make you sleepy?
Q:
A: I've been taking Lexapro for almost two years. When I first started taking it, the doctor had me taking it in the morning. I felt drowsy and kind of "in a fog" all day. The doctor had me switch it to taking it in the evening - and that made a huge improvement - and I think it helps me sleep better, too. Best of Luck to you :-)Paul.
