What did the tattoo artist recommend? That’s what I would use. With my last, the artist said to use Lubriderm and that was ok – it just had to be used very sparingly.

A: please ignore almost all the answers you have read…..You do NOT want to use an Antibiotic Ointment or cream of any kind. That will rush healing and strip the color from your tattoo. Do not use Unscented Lotion until you begin to peel because it will burn. People who suggest using Lotion right away are only potentially harming their tattoo. A&D Ointment is OK for a new tattoo but you asked what the best thing to use is “Aquaphor”.Its made by eucurin and its got almost the sameconsistencyy of A&D ointment. You will notice faster (But not rushed) healing with limited peeling while using Aquaphor. Then switch to Lubriderm Lotion after day 3-5 days.Aquaphor can be bought at Walmart or any drug store where lotions would be located.
