Are the pharmacy brand (generic pain killers) like Walgreens, CVS…?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090616081254AA6KfQM
they are absolutely the same. Most are even made by the same manufacturers as the brand name label, just sold under the cheaper name. There may be binders that are different in generic medications, but essentially they all work the same.

What is different about nursing in Australia opposed to nursing in UK?
Q: Also I was wondering are the medication names all different such as pain killers and antibioutics/
A: I am a nurse in Australia, and my younger sister is a nurse in the UK. She says that nursing in the UK is a little backward. Nurses there are perceived as hand maidens to the doctors and do not have as much responsibilty. In Oz we do alot of stuff the doctors do in UK like putting in nasogastric tubes (but if you are not comfortable, you can get someone to teach you). In Oz, nurses are seen more as part of a team and doctors respect their knowledge and contribution to the care of the patient. Nurses from the UK are very welcome, as we have such a shortage of nurses and UK nurses fit well into our culture. Most drugs are the same (pronounciation may differ), but every hospital has a great orientation program (especially the public ones) and they make sure that you are upto date with CPR, drug calculations, manual handling etc. (private hospitals may throw you in the deepend – although, hospitals run by Nuns will look after you well like St Vincents or any of the Seventh Day Adventist Hospitals. When in doubt, just ask someone – they are all very helpful. We generally use Morphine, Pethidine, Fentanyl, Ketamine, Alfentanyl, Remifentanil, (I work in OR, so we may have extra narcotics to those on the ward) for Narcotics; BenzylPenicillin, Cefazolin (Kefzol), Cephalothin (Keflin), Cephtriaxone (Rocephin), Vancomycin, Gentamycin, Metrondiazole (Flagyl), Dicloxacillin, Erythromycin for our antibiotics. After working in both private and public hospitals, I would recommend getting a job in public as you get paid more, get a weeks extra holiay (makes 6 weeks per year), have higher penalties for night shift, great superannuation, and they really look after your professional development (you get $3000 per year to go toward studying). Many of the public hospitals have great course like advanced life support etc too, so it is great in furthering your career. The link below is for my state health system (public hospitals are run by individual states – mine is Queensland). Hopefull this helps. Look forward to seeing you in Australia.
Does anyone know how to stop never ending feet pain from standing too long? (Hurts when sitting too)?
Q: Ever since a trip to Las Vegas two years ago, my feet have not stopped hurting. I walked around the city longer than I should’ve, and I think it just ruined my feet completely. If I’m standing for any longer 5 minutes, my feet start aching. When I sit down, the pain will lessen, but will not go away. Even after sleeping for 7-9 hours I can still feel it, just not as much. I’ve been to a couple doctors, each with their own names for what my problem could be. A foot store managed to sell $400 of foot support to me, which hardly did anything. I have high arches, wich is what all the doctors agree are causing the pain. But no matter what, after the support, massages, soaking, resting….It still…Hurts…LIKE HELL. It kills me when I’m at work standing all day. Heck, it kills just to stand in line at the store.Medicines….Don’t seem to reach my feet. I’ve taken a few different pain killers, and it doesn’t touch the pain.Any ideas on how to stop the pain?I don’t think a different job would really cure much unfortunately. I like going to places like Cedar Point, and places where you have to walk around to get anywhere. And I know I’d definetly never resort to something like just wheel chairing around….Yuck. I’d end up gaining so much wait, it’d be no wonder my feet hurt when I stand.*weight. Don’t know how I spelt that wrong. Gah. I wish I at least knew of a foot doctor in the area that knew what they were doing. Cause, damn, if this isn’t curable, then I’d really rather just get my feet chopped off.I think I’ll try those MBT shoes. Theres a store in a city not all too far…I don’t know…Doctor visit first, or shoe-trying first? Hmm….They’re both going to burn a hole in my pocket. -shrugs-What sort of diagnosis did the doctors give you?’planter fasciitis’ possibly. The doctors were contridicting eachother. So I don’t even know. Can you describe the pain, i.e. is it more of a burning?Nope, not a burning. Just hurts from too much pressure. It’s an aching that is mostly on my heal, the side next to the arch, and the ball of the feet.Have you been to see a neurologist? Have you been to a physical therapist?Nope.I’m 18, I don’t think it’s arthritis. I haven’t heard any of the doctors bring up “peripheral neuopathy”….They didn’t try taping my foot. It was brought up, but they didn’t do it.Causing the pain….Standing. Any pressure on my feet. The one thing the doctors could agree on was that it could be from high-arches.
A: What sort of diagnosis did the doctors give you? Can you describe the pain, i.e. is it more of a burning? Have you been to see a neurologist? Have you been to a physical therapist?Unsure if you have peripheral neuopathy or arthritis, maybe something else?Regardless, you may want to find a physical therapist who uses the Anodyne or Revitamed infrared therapy. Check out their websites as I think they have a list of therapists who use this equipment. This may help to relieve your symptoms, but you need an explanation for the cause of the pain – I am unsure of what is causing it.Did the doctors try taping your foot for support?Good luck!In response to your answers:If it is plantar fasciitis: this sounds a probable diagnosis. Physical therapy can help with this. We can use techniques, such as taping, ultrasound, etc. to help stretch out the area. Plantar fasciitis can originate in the calf muscle because it is too tight. You need to stretch out your calf! Easiest way is by standing on a step and droping your heels off the edge. I know one orthopedist who recommends holding the stretch for 10 minutes – quite painful to do but it can help.Try doing the following: fill an old soda bottle with water and freeze it. Then, for about 10 minutes three times a day, take it out and roll your bare foot on it. You can do this after the step stretch as it will help to calm down any inflammation. You can also try a product called ‘The Strassburg Sock’ – specifically designed for plantar fasciitis and I have seen it work well with some patients. Available over the counter and I think they have a website.Any other questions or comments?

A: Oh I’ve missed reading your poems. This brings back great memories. Your poems always make me feel warm. I know that’s not your intention, but they just make me feel like… home. I miss that. “To the melody of my desired painThe smell of spelt coffee disconnects me from my thoughtsThe world starts to spin”You’re amazing. You find the perfect words.. “‘spelt’ coffee” throws me off a bit, not sure if you mean spilled, or spelt like the wheat.. because they sometimes add that to coffee to intensify taste and such..Anyway. I’ve missed reading these.
