Is Alli safe on an overweight 12 year old?
Q: My sister is very over weight she is 12 and me and my mother were wondering is alli safe for her? She is going to the doctor later for an ear ache do you think that bringing up alli would be good or not. Please help. She has PCOS. She already does eat small portions and works out.She is in 4 sports.
A: I wouldn’t recommend it for a child. There are many side effects and problems that can occur when you eat fattening foods. A child doesn’t have the discipline to keep away from those things. I would guess that the cupboards at the house are not filled with healthy foods. Just keep her away from junk, soda and fast food and get her into some sports or activity.
Would It be safe for a 13 year old boy to take Alli diet pill?
Q: I have a 13 year old boy who is 5’4 and 245 lbs. He is finallly ready to get on a serious diet, but because he is not losing much weight he is becoming discouraged. He has a salad everyday for lunch and walks everyother day at least a mile. I was wondering if Alli would be safe for him to take. I am just trying to think of ways to help him along. A very slow metabolism also runs in the family. Is there anything else that is safe. Please Only Serious Answers. What would be some side effects of him taking these pills.
A: Alli has not been approved for anyone under the age of 18. I would not put my son, or any child on it. I wouldn’t even take it myself. Can you imagine what would happen to your son if he were sitting in class and suddenly had one of those horrible side-effects (like crapping his pants) associated with taking Alli? That would probably be the most embarrassing moment in his life. Talk to your child’s doctor about it, He/she might be able to provide you with a safer alternative.
Is the weight loss pill Alli safe ?
Q: I want to know if there are any side effects also is it good for you ? Anyone you know had experience of taking it ?what te hell is anal leakage ?
A: Orlistat is one of the few functional weight loss pills that is safe.It works by damaging lipases and thus reducing the amount of fat we absorb from the diet. In clinical trials it increased weight loss by about 1/3, BUT ONLY IN PATIENTS ON AN ULTRA LOW FAT DIET WHO ALSO EXERCISED VIGOROUSLY.It is not systemically absorbed so it has no systemic side effects. That is the end of the good news. The over the counter version Alli is half the strength of the prescribed drug.In community practice its success rate is very poor, as most patients don’t stick to the diet and don’t exercise sufficiently to make a difference. As a result few sustain good weight loss and many suffer the typical side effects of abdominal cramps, explosive diarrhoea and wind, which is so bad that it causes accidents, and yellow oily stool with staining of both toilets and underwear!
