They’re a little energetic like when we open the door to the cage they all come crawling towards it, but not with the same amount of energy as they normally do. A: Actually, it is probably the flu. Ferrets can become infected with the human influenza virus. It is much more common in young ferrets, but can happen in all of them. It causes upper respiratory signs, and sometimes a fever. They need to be checked by a vet. They could get dehydrated, or secondary infections. If you are not going to take them to the vet, for whatever reason, you need to make sure that they are eating, and staying hydrated. If they are not eating their food, or you are not sure, there are some wonderful recipes online for “duck soup” or chicken gravy for ferrets. If you want to use something already made, you can try Gerber 2nd foods chicken and gravy baby food. This type of food is highly palatable to ferrets and will provide nutrition and fluids. If any of them stop eating, or are very lethargic, they absolutely need to be checked. They don’t usually die from the flu, but that doesn’t mean they can’t. A: you should probably ask your doctor about weening you off of it. quitting cold turky has horable affects where as weening off isnt so bad.
